Hey, guyyyss! Heheheehhh... It's been like a year since my last post, so I owe an apology to you all. Anyway, recently I got my first two hardware instruments from Roland! The Plug-Out Synthesizer SYSTEM-1, and the Roland Boutique Tr-06 Drumatix (drum machine), and they are freaking awesome! Since I haven't been posting much, I figured that by making live improvisations with the 2 instruments, I can just create songs on the fly and post those for you guys to enjoy! So, here is my improvisation, "Reflection"! Enjoy!

Fun Fact: The square wave pluck progression I made in the beginning, was created by alternating between oscillator 1 being on, and oscillator 2 being off (e.g. I played some keys, switched osc 1 to off, and turned on osc 2. I then played some new keys, and later turned off osc 2, and turned on osc 1. I repeated this process to get the progression of the chords!) ;)

This mix was so much fun to make! I made this by using the Pioneer DJ DDJ-SB2 I obtained from someone I knew. He needed to use my Novation Launchpad MK2, so he traded his DDJ-SB2 for it. Fast forward two days, and now I'm officially a DJ! (Edit: No you weren’t bro, you had a LOT to learn 😅.) (I guess. There are probably still some things I could learn and practice.) Anyway, in this mix, you'll find some of my tracks I've posted here on SoundCloud, as well as some new track IDs by me! I've also mixed in a song or two from bigger artists like BlackGummy! This track was a recreation I did of one of deadmau5's scrapped ideas shown during an old live stream. The second I heard the sound, I instantly fell in love with it, and became super inspired. Everything but the bassline and the pluck progression was done by me. Hope you enjoy it!

Anywaaaay, just so you all know I’m not dead, here’s something I’ve been working on! This is the ID and last track in my live set mix. A few changes have been made since I created this audio file, as I’m still working on the project. So...why have I been quiet for so long? Well, to be honest...a lot of reasons. Mental health, adulting, turning 20 recently, and planning for future events. Nonetheless, I'm excited to show you guys what I have to share in the future!

This ambient track was made and recorded one day in a music production (no voice) voice channel on Discord with tears streaming down my eyes, and the green lights of my Roland System-1 hardware synth. I opened up Logic Pro, hit record…and just played the preset I had just created. The song is meant to sound a little off, harsh, and drawn out. That's been my life recently. Feel free to let me know what you guys think in the comments section. Constructive criticism is just fine, but if you do so, please provide things I did well, and things you think I could improve on (and maybe how to improve them). I had a longer track description talking about the origin of what caused me to write this track, but something happened when writing it, and I lost the description. Maybe I'll add it again later, but I doubt it.
(I'm doing the thing, yes really lol) For best results, please use headphones, dim the lights, and immerse yourself in a memorable, comfortable environment. Environments include a thin layer of infinite, mirror-like water reflecting distant mountains and a glittering sky, rainy roads with colored lights washing over your face, laying horizontally on your bed with the air conditioning on, and blurry glimpses of nostalgic memories never to be forgotten.

In a nutshell, life has been extremely hard here, but I’m learning more than I ever have in my entire life. This will be an Lp about learning from your past, coming to terms with it, and finding your sense of self. Thank you all for your patience, and I hope to be uploading something in the future. However, I can’t guarantee that, so... I guess we’ll see what ends up happening hahaha!

I think that this track was a HUGE learning experience for me, mainly because it took me an entire year to create. This track was originally called, "Waterfall". I then found a sample called, "Platinum Sparks Lead", deleted the entire project, and started a brand new one, building everything around that sample. I hope you guys enjoy the track!

This track was born during a time of depression, and immediately after an argument. The inspiration came from some chords you can hear in the very beginning. They came from a drum kit named "Steely Beats". After I added some reverb and ambiance to the chords, I just built everything around it, added some classical instruments, samples, etc. Enjoy the track.

A place of wonder. Crying and dancing at the same time. Intimacy, connection, raw emotion, and visualization. A means of bringing people together to heal.

Picture a thin layer of almost mirror-like water with a glittering night sky and galaxies reflected in the water. Place a few far-off mountains in the distance. Make it an infinite distance, and place yourself in the middle. Now, let the colored lights wash over your face and close your eyes. Or maybe it’s a rural landscape with sand and dirt mingling with the grassy hills and bright sky, with only a few clouds above you. Somewhere off in the distance, a single, tiny, and ever so slightly blurred house appears in your peripheral vision. Breathe in, breathe out. This is a portal into my soul.

What does yours look like? Euphoria? Sadness? Fear, worry, concern? Solicitude, laughter? This is your soul portal.

Soul Portal invites people to tap into their emotions, visualize it, listen to it, and place themselves there. We often struggle to communicate our thoughts and feelings. There's a reason; feelings aren't words. Why try to use words to describe emotion, when sound can work for you? Others understand their own words and perceptions better than yours. About The Producer:
Inspired by artists (both big and small) such as CloudNone, Loosid, Akosmo, Midnight Kitsune, i_o, Porter Robinson/Virtual Self, Asteroid Afterparty, STRNGER, Virtual Riot, deadmau5, & others, the young producer’s signature style incorporates emotional chord progressions, futuristic sounds, vowel-like basses (taken from beatboxing his ideas in his head first), punchy/resonant snares, and experimental, cinematic sound design. Currently, the universe has asked him "Is your soul portal what you want it to be?", and finds himself in a transitional living program. Despite the sudden change of events, the artist still creates in his heart and mind, and dreams of working towards joining labels such as  “Lost In Dreams”, "Monstercat", "Mau5trap", and "Rushdown", among others, and has been making music since he was 4 years old using his family's piano.

He first discovered electronic music at a very young age through Pandora radio. After hearing the iconic "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" by the one and only Skrillex, he fell in love with the futuristic sound. A few years later, he heard “Flight” by Tristam & Braken (released on the Monstercat label) for the first time while coming home from a mountain biking team ride, and later discovered that many young producers were doing the same thing the professionals were. This was the spark waiting to ignite his passion for electronic music, and found himself asking "If they can do it, why can't I?"

Ever since then, he's been experimenting with all sorts of genres, not being afraid to try new sound design techniques to shape his signature sound. In the past years, he's participated in an official Monstercat remix competition (sadly, because of copyright restrictions, the remix cannot be distributed. The project was also incomplete), performed live at his high school prom using the Roland System-1 Plug-Out Synthesizer and the Roland Boutique TR-06, assisted at a small 4th of July event, acquired the Roland System-500 modular synthesizer, and continued putting emotion into sound. About 3 years ago, he started learning to DJ on the Roland DJ-202.

Soul Portal's tracks sound identical to artists such as Porter Robinson (whom friends have said he looks strikingly similar to) the experimental trio Loosid, the legendary producer i_o who's influence has reached the far corners of the ether, and more familiar names by the likes of Owl City, Coldplay, Martin Garrix, and David Guetta.

If you're looking for something to speak to the heart, step into the universe of Soul Portal.
For his DAW, the young producer uses Logic Pro.
