The original members of the Freestylers are Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey who started off their musical careers in the mid 1990's. They released their first two albums ‘We Rock Hard’ and ‘Pressure Point’ on the legendary Breakbeat label Freskanova. The third and forth albums ‘Raw as F**k’ and ‘Adventures in Freestyle’ were released on ‘Against The Grain’another Breaks power house based label. Their last album from 2013 ‘The Coming Storm’ was released through Black Hole Recordings. 

The Freestylers began their career as an Urban Electronic Music Act, and their early tunes ‘B-Boy Stance,’ ‘Ruffneck’ and ‘Warning’ set the marker. As their music progressed so did their anthems with the seminal tunes ‘Punks’, ‘Boom Blast’, ‘Fasten Your Seat-Belts,’ ‘Painkiller’ and more recently ‘Cracks.’ In addition to their status as underground heroes, they have gained commercial success with their huge global hit ‘Push Up’ and have had their music featured in TV and film, including the hugely successful comedy film Zoolander.

After the overwhelming response to Volume 1 I knew that making Volume 2 was a tough challenge,  so it took a while  to make sure this mix lived up to the success of the first one. Some of the finest moments of my career have been playing Breakbeat. I feel that’s what makes this genre of music so special. I have met some of the most amazing people and experienced incredible highlights in my career.  Running 2 record labels  Against The Grain and the club night Supercharged with Lloyd (Skool Of Thought) traveling the world and sharing Breakbeats so I hope you enjoy this podcast.

Slyde Presents: Finger Lickin vs Punks

Mark Kane has been DJing for over 29 years under various guises including: Kane, Kane and Able, DEF inc. and currently as Soulshake, a DJ/VJ/AV act combining music, graphics, film and special FX with a sampling, looping, re-editing and cutting 6-deck audiovisual mixing technique.

He is versatile across multiple musical genres including: breakbeat, house, hip-hop, psy, electro, progressive, world music, global fusion, chill out and drum and bass.

He has released tracks with Botchit and Scarper, Finger Lickin' Records, Born Idle Records, 777, Spin Out Records and Pirate Breaks and his career led him to residencies at London underground breakbeat party C64 and the Jet Lounge in New York and nominations for Best Breakthrough DJ, Best Breakthrough Producer and Best Club Night at the International Breakspoll Awards. 

Originally from London and now based in Ibiza, Mark has performed across the world (Australia, Belarus, Bosnia, Croatia, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, France, Turkey, Ukraine, USA and the UK) and numerous festivals including Glastonbury, Glade, Bloom, Seduction, Dragon, Freekuency, and Sundazed Festivals.
