the chant of stars

SOULSITE was founded by Patrick Wüst and Marcus Berger in early 2003 as an electronic instrumental project, highly influenced by the british triphop-scene of the late 90s.
After writing their first songs they pushed the project into a more acoustic direction, adding guitar and bass to keep a non-digital component.

In 2004 Maik Pawlik (Vocals) and Marcel Negraszus (Guitar) joined the project and the work on their first album began soon after. When Wüst died by accident in September 2006 they stopped working on SOULSITE and started other musical projects.

Later in 2007, SOULSITE played a live-set of songs with Tom Schönberg on bass and Christian Wittig on drums while completely dismissing the electronic part. After some shows Markus Freitag was asked to become a firm member, playing the cello for the recordings and live. In autumn 2008 the project was paused for an undefined time.

A decade after founding SOULSITE, Berger now resumes work on the album in collaboration with Pawlik, mixing acoustic and electronic parts by writing new songs in a way the project originally was meant to be...
