With summer in full swing we thought it only fitting to drop a hot three track Ep titled “Vegas Housing Authority”.  All three tracks are from local Vegas artists and this one has been in the works for a few months now. Boss man Bruno Browning, Soulsupplement brethren Lipptrixx and longtime Vegas artist Ala mode join forces to come up with an Ep that represents their idea of house…Vegas style.

Leading from the front Bruno gets the floor moving with the original mix of “On The Funky”.  Rhythm is provided by a four on the floor kick that has a couple of hats moving around to keep it interesting and a clap here and there for good measure. Bruno’s bass style is subdued at first but it doesn’t take long until he unleashes that iconic organ bass sound.  Browning layers a few keys in and around the foundation but it’s the vocal snips that will get in your head and stay awhile.

Lipptrixx takes it from here and as usual he never disappoints. His original mix of “Don’t You Hear” is a straight up groover that will get the floor hypnotized from the melodic vibe he’s created.  Next Lipptrixx lays down a classic house rhythm section that creates the foundation for this one.  With the foundation complete he then drops in a vocal that when combined with the keys and synth stabs provides a perfect hypnotic effect that will keep the floor filled and under your control.


Last but definitely not least we welcome Ala Mode to the Soulsupplement family and we’re extremely proud to have him on board.  Ala mode carries us home with “Sneak Peak” and its spot on nasty.  A broken beat number that is just what the doctor ordered if you’re looking to change up the vibe a bit.  He adds some vocal snips here and there and some vocal runs towards the middle of the track however, it’s the bass line that will get you out on that floor to move your body.  His bass and synth lines create pure nastiness that is perfect if you’re looking to get your slimy grimey on.   Not a bad way to debut on a label…not bad at all.

On The Funky (Original Mix)Bruno Browning

With 2014 fast coming to an end we’re excited to begin closing it out with a two track Ep from one of our favorite label family members Middle Rhythm.  As always he delivers the goods in perfect form and we hope you enjoy the tracks as much as we do.

Middle Rhythm gets us moving with the Ep title track “That Feeling” and it’s a no nonsense feel good house track plain and simple.   He lays the foundation with a four on the floor rhythm section that has an infectious filtered vocal layered nicely on top.  Next Middle Rhythm brings in a bass and synth line that is simply hard to get out of your head once heard…we think you’ll agree.

“Dope Sax” puts a perfect deep finishing touch on this two tracker, almost a metaphor for the beginning of the end of 2014.  Again Middle R. does what he does best an in this case it’s another four on the floor number combined with an old school deep house bass line that we all love here in the Soulsupplement compound.    He layers another hypnotic vocal over perfect deep keys with good form, however it’s the sax that steals the show on this cut.   Not too much and not too little, just the perfect amount of sax…one might say it’s more of what you want and less of what you don’t.

That Feeling (Original Mix), Middle Rhythm (96kbps)

The original mix of “Bout To Lose My Mind” gets things moving and by moving we mean rocking.  The Mavs layer a great rhythm section with sexy keys, techy stabs, a subtle bass line and meticulously laid in vocals that we all know and love.  This track is why we love the Mavericks…perfect.

Bruno’s Browning’s mix of “Bout To Lose My Mind” is next and his four on the floor take of the original has his stamp all over it.  He layers a meaty bass line over a straight forward rhythm section and then gets to work with some key layers and extra percussion.  Some extra vocal bits at the end bring this one home as one man “let’s go.”

With 2014 drawing to a close we thought it would be nice to slow things down, dig a little deeper and put on the deep shorts as we close out another fantastic year. It’s in the spirit that we welcome James Benedict to team Soulsupplement and his three track Ep fills the bill in spades.

The original mix of “Magic Is What I Need” is the first offering from James and the rumor is that it’s this track that sold the boss man to sign this Ep. Four on floor rhythm and a ghost like vocal that is draped over the entire track ever so gently. Of course there’s the compulsory keys and accent percussion with are great however, it’s the bass line that steals the show with melancholy undertones that are almost circumferential.

Mr. Benedict keeps that vibe flowing with the original mix of “Love Factory” and we’re not complaining. Key lines are distributed nicely throughout the track as well as a more pronounced vocal that goes a long way in keeping this one grounded and in the pocket. Once again the bass line delivers the right amount of oomph that keeps this one tastefully in the heavier weight classes.

Reluctantly we close out the Ep with the original mix of “Get A Hold On Me” and this time James lays in a more aggressive rhythm section that adds a wee bit of grime to the overall feel. Building on that rhythmic grime he comes correct once again with a deep low end bass line that is a touch more melodic while at the same time remaining true to the continuity of the release.

One the most steadfast members of the Soulsupplement family Speaker Peeps teams up with Neil Baino to kick off the 2015 release schedule.  Speaker Peeps continues to hone his craft with each and every release and this time is no different.  His decision to partner up with Neil on their “Bedtime” Ep seems to have added a new layer to his already smooth & funky style.

“Bedtime Dream” gets the juices flowing with an overall deep vibe which comes from a straightforward drum track, vocal stabs and subtle keys for the first quarter of the track.  After the first breakdown the fellas bring in more percussion, a trumpet and a bass line that is subdued but no pushover.  A great way to get to night started.

Next up the boys bring in the original mix of “Brake” and we can’t prove that it’s the boss man’s favorite but pretty much everyone in the compound has heard this one coming from Bruno’s whip turned up full blast.  Again Speaker Peeps and Neil put down a no nonsense rhythm section and a sweet rolling bass line that always works nicely during sets.   The vocal is classic Speaker Peeps and we dig it…we hope you do as well.

“Romancin Who” brings us home with straight up nasty slash. Four on the floor rhythm, a horn section doing work in the background and a few key lines later on in the track provide this grimey gems foundation.   On top of the aforementioned foundation Speaker Peeps and Neil lay in a nasty bass line & vocals that steal the show.   This one is only for cats that can walk into the roughest of situations and make it out the other side.


Bedtime Dream (Original Mix) - Speakerpeeps ft Neil Baino (96kbps)

Soulsupplement Records kicks off 2013 with a delicious slice house goodness from Bruno Browning. Browning’s Truckin is a tight little four tracker that has enough funky deep house to go around as well as a dash of tech just to make it fair.  Besides having a little something for everyone it will also have you moving your body and singing along.  Besides Bruno’s two mixes Kevin Crafts and Manuel M. offer up two floor crushers that are not to be missed.
 
“Truckin (Original Mix)” is Bruno’s first offering and it’s a straight forward four on the floor number that is ever so delightful.  Browning brings one of his signature funk bass lines to the floor and adds a simple clavinet that blends together for the perfect fit. Some additional bits here and there are added to the mix along with a 1973 vocal that everyone will recognize.  

Next up Kevin Crafts of Drizzle Music and Aspect Audio drops a floor filler on us with his remix of “Truckin”.  Now this number is on fire and trust me there will be no sitting still when this one comes on.  Additional percussion and a mind blowing arrangement help raise the energy of this track.  Do not sleep on this one.

Manuel M. of Ginkgo Music, 6th Sense, Open Bar and too many other labels to mention brings his version of “Truckin” to the table and it’s another funky floor filler.  A driving rhythm section is the foundation of this one, however it’s the arrangement that completely changes the feel and it’s a winner.  Just try not to dance when it comes on…I dare you.

Finally Bruno gives us a bit of tech house and trust me this is as techy as Bruno Browning gets. This stripped down version has a different bass line as well as rhythm section for the sole purpose of showcasing the vocal.  Word on the street is this one was written just for Bruno’s personal need to transition in his sets.

Truckin (Kevin Crafts Mix)

Spring is here and Soulsupplement Records are releasing their first sampler, titled Tactile Funk.  The Sampler is made up of 10 original tracks from some of the hottest house producers in the game. 

Every track has a different vibe and feel that will appeal to almost every discerning house aficionado.  When Bruno Browning off handily asked who was up for the sampler a few months ago the slots quickly filled up.  Brandon Bass (Aspect Audio), Terry G (Midwest Hustle), UC Beatz (Underluxe Records), Kevin Crafts (Drizzle Music), Jackin Andy (Flosshatt Digital), Sean Patrick & Stevie Louis (Plushouse), Gil Aguilar (Treasured Grooves), Scott Ducey (Full House Digital) and Matty Hayes (Soulsupplement Records) all answered the call and the tracks they provided were plain heaters. So get your spring off to a great start with a sampler that’s sure to keep you moving your body and the dance floor filled.

Las Vegas-based independent house label, Soulsupplement Records was founded in 2006 with the goal of creating a Las Vegas sound. In May 2006, Soulsupplement’s first release was a 12” Ep titled Lessons which was soon followed by a second 12" release titled “Light”. Although 2007 would sadly mark the last of Soulsupplement’s vinyl releases, the change in format provided a more consistent release schedule as well as the release of bonus mixes that might not have made it onto a vinyl release due to space limitations.

Early on Soulsupplement production relied mostly on hardware and the team was very reluctant in embracing the use of software in their music process. Opinions eventually changed as a result of experimenting with hundreds of different software/hardware combinations and studio setups. After countless different studio configurations, the Soulsupplement team found that they could create their best sounds by combining their favorite analog gear with today’s premiere production software. Blending these two different systems has helped Soulsupplement Records to create their own unique sound.

Label boss Bruno Browning is the driving force behind Soulsupplement Records and has written & produced a large portion of the Soulsupplement catalog.  In addition to running the label Browning is a Great Lakes Audio recording artist with over 350 songs to his credit which have appeared on 19 different record labels.
