Athlete Whippet join the Toy Tonics family! The London/ Berlin-based duo makes a sound that is based on futuristic breakbeats combined with deep jazz chord progressions and a kind of funk that sounds more like it was made in 2100 than in a year behind us. Definitely not a retro record. The “Vesta EP” is a further proof that the connection between London and Berlin, that has been build by several Toy Tonics artists (Cody Currie is the latest in the gang), is becoming a strong one. The combination of the Berlin dancefloor sound and the UK jazz fusion soul is changing the scene and creating new moods. Neo soul and house, broken beats and disco… There are a lot of things happening in that new world and Athlete Whippet could be a strong player in that sound.

Hard to believe it’s been 3 years since Jungle Fire first graced the RNT Catalog, and now the west coast boys of summer are back with a 5-track remix EP of varied Latin soul funk vibes, reimagined by a stellar cast of remixers.

On the A-side, Colombian juggernaut Felipe Gordon takes Atómico fully nuclear with a stomping bass-heavy house remix, and JKriv goes elektrik with his Elektrikossa dub that sprinkles dubbed out and acid elements over a pulsating rubbery groove.

On the flip, turntablist Nu-Mark delivers a punchy breakbeat take on Atómico, Jungle Fire member Patrick Bailey goes full-on boogie vibes with his Snake In Da Bronx Dub of La Kossa, and the record winds down with the dubby halftime flavor of Samual Miles remix of Biri Biri. Whether in the open-air club, block party or rooftop, this record is the sound of summer 2021!

The Kapote album is out for a couple of months and rarely you could see so much euphoric feedback on Toy Tonics releases. 

From Black Madonna to DJ Artwork, DJ Harvey to Detroit Swindle, Gerd Janson, Busy P to Moodyman and Honey Dijon. The tracks are getting played everywhere. 

So it makes sense to come up with some reworks of the album tracks.

On the 2nd remix EP, Sworn Virgins from DeeWee, Art of Tones and Rahaan made new versions.. and as the “Delirio Italiano” track is getting so much love Kapote made an alternative version. 

But here is a taste of Art of Tones' stellar revision.

Producer extraordinaire @lay-far joins the RNT roster with The Trinity EP, a 4-tracker showcasing his distinctive analog and beat-driven sound. The record opens with the lush ‘Searching for Your Love,’ layering jazzy electric piano and a haunting melan-cholic vocal over a driving broken groove. Slowing down briefly for the lowdown and dirty funk of the eponymous track of the record, we’re quickly back in bumping club territory on the bass-heavy pulse of ‘What It Is,’ and the classic sample-house sound of ‘You Can’t Stop The Profit’ takes the EP home. A beautifully crafted, and truly unique 12” from beginning to end!
