When Paul Woolford adopted his Special Request alias again last year for the 'Belief System' album, we kind of lost our shit. The LP was one of our favourites of 2018 and once again cemented Woolford as a certified master of the scene.

At the end of the year we crowned Nina Kraviz as our DJ of the Year and ultimately it was an easy decision to make. Her sets are electric, her label, трип, is one of the most forward-thinking and genre-bending imprints in the world and her parties buck the formulaic trend that most follow.

When we found out that Nina was remixing 'Curtain Twitcher' by Special Request, we jumped at the chance to listen. When we realised she'd done not one but two remixes, well we were sold.

Here is the premiere of Kraviz's Alice Was Here remix and it's more of the brilliant same. A true meeting of magical minds.

It doesn’t get much bigger than this: Adam Beyer links up with Green Velvet and Drumcode’s outstanding rising star Layton Giordani for a debut collaboration.

Some musical partnerships feel fated. Both fans of one another’s work, for years Adam Beyer and Green Velvet had discussed writing music together. In turn, Beyer’s protégé Layton Giordani had admired the Chicagoan’s work for as long as he could remember. When the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at Belfast’s Shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. With the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio’s creative chemistry would manifest musically.

‘Space Date’ was conceived organically and birthed quickly. Propelled by Green Velvet’s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that’s highlighted sets by Beyer at Awakenings, Ushuaia and also EDC Vegas when Green Velvet dropped it to a raucous response. The track is complimented by ‘Rome Future’, the product of a year-long series of productions between Beyer and Giordani. Deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who’ve followed their sets over recent months.

It is a pleasure to work with David Granha and to present his 2nd release on NoirMusic.

Not only is he a super talented producer but he is also open to taking his tracks a stepfurther and in the process evolve as an artist and producer.

I have been playing these 3 tracks a lot in my sets around the globe and almost eachweek discussed change of details with David.

It makes me proud to have this “Savala” release on Noir Music cause you can hearfrom the title track “Savala” is an extension of his previous release on the label and with “Balea” and “Mortal Sins” he moves his sound-design to new ventures and a more minimal, raw approach to the final outcome.

Exactly what I wanted from David. Exactly what I hoped for and well…… Even better.

These 3 tracks just sounds amazing and they have been crafted perfectly step by step over a long period of time. A lot of passion, energy and love have been put into this release.

On top of that the titles of the tracks also have sentimental value to David, so there is also a deeper meaning with this release.

Give them a spin and experience how powerful these tunes are.

Modal’s project is focused on electronic music dance floor oriented. Most of his productions are characterized by deep chords, melancholics soundscapes and melodic synth phrases. 

Taking inspiration from soundtracks, paintings, photos and books as well, Modal is looking for the emotional side of techno, whether in the studio or in his sets. 

Moving from his early passion for the post rock scene (Mogwai, Elbow, Slint) he grown up with the electronic music of the early 2000 and the releases of Warp records

At the present, he translates all this musical background in sets where haunting melodies and atmospheric progressions play a fundamental role.  

Modal has released tracks on several labels, like Us&Them Records, Three Hands Records, DNC Limited and stratos. His last EP (“Attesa”) appears on the german Konfluenz Audio in collaboration with Marrie as remixer.

Gravity is a deeper, more heady track with menacing bass and shooting lasers. Nebula then sucks you into a spooky sound world, with hard drums and cinematic synths adding up to an evocative journey. Last of all, 1991 is more tripped out, with beautiful melodies circling above the soft drums, which makes it feel like you are adrift in space. 

These are four more superbly dramatic techno cuts from one of the best in the game.
