@synthsofworld bring their anything-goes attitude to this stellar 80 minute mix... I've been keeping super close tabs after stumbling on their GDS.FM residency filled with heavy digs from their own collection (check their YT channel ASAP) and killer under-the-radar guests..

For this 80-minute contribution, we decided to throw together our latest 90s finds. This may have a restrictive effect on variety, as the focus is on more compressed music. It's an honor for us to introduce you to one of the artists that has influenced us the most since we started our story back in 2015. I still remember listening to the first edits that Mori-Ra posted on his soundcloud page and since then, here at MM Discos we've always had an eye on every single thingthat he has put on the streets.
Obsessed digger and one of Japan's most esteemed collectors, Osaka's based dj Mori Ra must be one of the most determinate artists on the scene. His Vast knowledge of local and international music has developed his wide ranging style. An artist that flees from fashions, vinyl lover and a true tastemaker. Eclecticism is probably the word that it could define him better; Disco, Balearic, New Age, New Wave, Jazz, Rock, Experimental and everything in between should be expected on his sets and edits, blending all this genres and breaking all the rules in order to keep the dancers and music lovers on their toes and grooving. Mori Ra's MM Discos 13 is the result of the continuous and relentless exploration for years of thousands of (almost) forgotten records, regardless of genre and author. A work not suitable for all tastes, unclassifiable and highly addictive.

DC Promo Tracks #877: CCCVVV "Alla Porta Subito"

A-side of a forthcoming 12" on Japan's Let's Get Lost label, due out Autumn 2012.

A tribute to, rather than a cover version of "Is It All Over My Face?" by Loose Joints. This track was made specifically to be played at our bi-monthly Optimo nights in Glasgow. The Loose Joints song was an Optimo anthem but had been played so much that I wanted to put it to rest and decided to create a track that was inspired by, and paid homage to it but wasn't strictly a cover version. After all, it is an impossible and impossibly good song to try and cover. 

This has been rigorously road tested throughout Summer 2012.

Vocals are by Alicia Matthews from Organs Of Love. Cello is by Emma Goldman. All other instrumentation by JD Twitch. Mix assistance and mastering by James Savage.

JD Twitch - Is It All Over The Place?

20 years marks the last output of A man called Adam, and this limited edition Vinyl sampler ‘Farmarama’ accomplishes a lot, skimming through a ludicrous amount of different styles, from Acid Jazz, smooth Balearic house, slow jams and everything in between.

Sally & Steve have also dusted off and polished their long held cult label ‘Other Records’ for the release. We’re totally unsure how after such a long hiatus it’s possible to get it quite so bang on, and fit seamlessly back with the musical landscape, and push things forward. This is probably one to be only pondered on by us mere mortals, as re-entries as smooth as this normally only can be architected by NASA. 

We’re premiering a Prins Thomas remix (Norwegian Golden Boy and all round superb producer) of ‘Paul Valery at the Disco’, who has given a more chilled world-y sound to an already very smooth and chilled disco cut. Think laidback percussion, a sauntering arrangement and a more lackadaisical approach to rhythm.

PREMIERE: A Man Called Adam: Paul Valery At The Disco (Prins Thomas Remix) [Other Records]

Berlin club and partystarters Sameheads return to black wax on April 10th with "ZEUG!", a 4-track EP from various celebrated artists, who join forces in new and unheard ways for a stack of outernational and spaced-out dancefloor jams for creative dance floors worldwide and beyond.

First up is Mameen 3 (a side-project from Brussels selector DJ soFa and Cheb Runner) & Romanian pioneer Rodion G.A with ‘Planet Cluj’, a suitably off-world excursion through a fun-packed disco hall in some far-off colony where layered synths are stacked, elements seeping through one another to form a mesh of groove.

The release is celebrated at Sameheads on April 10th with an extremely rare live show from Rodion G. A., an appearance from INVERSIONS label owner Milo Smee, and a b2b from Don’t Dj & Dane Close. Limited to 300 pieces, this record will find a home in the stacks of DJ’s willing to step outside genre and convention.

For this second opus, we are hosting @plasticbamboo a chill edit of a french rare record.
Plastic Bamboo is not really a stranger to us, we’ve already invited him to record a podcast on our channel and we also played together last year with Guillaume des Bois from Macadam Mambo.


MTT: Hello Camille, how are you? I hope that you are holding on in Paris, few days to go.

PB: Hi MTT! I'm doing great thank you. There's worse than staying home for long periods of time. I'm kind of used to it anyway because I work in the film industry. These days it's just different because it's necessary. I mostly occupy my time watching movies, listening to music and working on some ongoing projects. I have a first EP of edits coming out on wax next year on a new label from Manchester. My friend Patrick Ryder from Piccadilly Records and Talking Drums is behind it but hush hush. I've also been working on my own label project for a year and a half now. All I can say for now is that the first release is an LP, and that it should be out sometime in 2020.


MTT: I know that you’ve been part of Les Yeux Orange, can you tell us how you get involved in the collective and what benefit you took from this ?

PB: I first met Antoine aka LeonxLeon back in 2014. We both had tracks released through Manchester label Red Laser and instantly got on. He then introduced me to his friends Raphael and Stanislas from Les Yeux Orange and I joined the collective shortly after. At that time I was mostly producing music as Alan Dente (my italo alias), and I didn't know much about digging, the club culture and managing a label. From 2014 to 2017, I learned a lot in those fields while having a great time with my friends. Digging old records became kind of obsessive so I decided to follow my own path as Plastic Bamboo. I haven't given up production but it takes time and dedication.

MTT: You’ve started publishing edits last year, what led you to this ? What’s your objective behind it ?


I first became aware of disco edits through Eric Duncan (COMBI Edits), DJ Harvey (Black Cock Edits) and Theo Parrish (Ugly Edits). That was back in the late noughties when my friend Patrick Ryder used to rave about them. Inspired by them, I naturally started editing tracks just for fun, and hoping to get noticed. Most of them are now lost somewhere in the black hole of my computer. Years later, Plastic Bamboo started with a youtube channel and a series of podcasts on soundcloud, but after a while I decided to pick up where I'd left off with edits. Editing tracks is a way for me to make the most of records that would otherwise gather dust at the back of my collection, and to share them with friends and through social medias.

Plastic Bamboo - Mon P'tit Bateau (Edit)

Periodica Records dives into the heart of the Napoli underground with a scorching two track single from Danger Boys called ‘Danger Zone’, which sees Milord and Whodamanny paying tribute to the their cult party of the same name, which was hosted at the Boudoir Club. In the title track, perilous premonitions of tribal disco intertwine with shadowy strains of post-punk, as propulsive beats pound beneath heady fuzz licks, ringing harmonics, and sheets of solar distortion. Basslines cut the difference between frenetic funk and cosmic rock, galactic winds carry sparkles of deep space detritus, and above it all, a high priest chants in ecstasy, with his mystical musings, echoing affirmations, and messages of defiance pulling the body deeper into the dance. Then in “Haunted Zone,” the Danger Boys slow it down and stretch everything out, while giving further space to computronic sequences, laser-generated birdsong, and weirdo whooshes of interstellar noise. Low-slung drums smack through cavernous reverb, cymbals tick nervously, and the bass reduces to a minimalistic dub throb as guitars converse with alien electronics, sometimes slashing the air with red hot riffs and acid rock leads, other times reducing to a psychedelic slop of scrapes and slides. And here, the vocals are even more dynamic, moving between druidic disco incantations and zany flourishes of outsider pop.
