Recorded live at Sacred Sound Studios in Florestral Community, in the heart of the forest of Costa Rica.
Before we began construction of the rooms of the studio, we held several events in the incredible and giant empty dome. The acoustics in the dome were like no other in the world, giving us a unique chance to record with the natural amplification and reverberation.

Above & Below + Gateway to Eternity

This is a tribute song for Neyam Sol, marking a year for his departure. The global circle, our dear family and community joined together and this song is a beautiful token of love and appreciation to our boy, with over 40 participants, recording all over the world. 
We share this as a pulse of hope, for us all. Everyone lost someone and this is also a tribute to our joined longings and love that goes beyond the veil.

Never questioning, Bear does not question weather she will survive a hibernation,
she just goes within and she knows.

To the North
To our ancestors and Elders, where the wisdom lies
Of great Buffalo, that reminds us of service.
Tradition says, that Buffalo would turn and face the arrows of the tribe,
for he knew, that all of him would be used for the great of the whole
The tendons, the bones, the fur, every piece. 
Teaches us to live our lives as that lesson
Teaches ut to take the lessons that we learn in life,
our challenges and obstacles, to do the same 
And of great hummingbird
Teaches us that everything is possible
To believe in the possibilities of the highest good
and highest potential, for ourselves, our community, and our world.

Shamanic Astral Projection or Shamanic Journeying is an altered state of consciousness wherein you enter a realm called non-ordinary reality. By journeying you can gather knowledge and perform healing in ways that are not accessible in ordinary waking reality.

Background:
This song came to me in the Redwoods of California. Like many of my other songs, not recorded here, there are hints of other languages and traditions present here. I've been told that this one sounds Lakota. 

Ceremonial Context:
This is my song for invoking the Spirits and Forces that guide me, those Medicines that I have formed relationship with, the Elemental beings that have taught me the ways of the Medicine Path. I traditionally sing this song as a "Calling Song" in Ceremonies, as it calls the Spirits to the Ceremonial space.

Oftentimes, in many types of indigenous ceremony, the ceremony begins with an invocation of the Spirits & Forces to come & join the ceremony. Oftentimes, this is in the form of a song. For many indigenous people, these forces can be anything from Plant Spirits, to the Elemental Spirits, to Ancestors, Spirit Guides, Guardians & Protectors of Land, etc. etc. etc. 

As a ceremonial singer, I feel that these types of songs are extremely important. For a person holding a container for ceremonial participants, calling the guides and spirits that that person has created deep connection with is highly important. This is because the "shaman" or curandera, has spent their lives developing deep relationships to Spirit & the many forms that He/She takes. By calling forth, into the ceremony by name, the Spirit forces that he/she works closely with, the other ceremonial participants may come to know them by their presence there.
