Robag Wruhme isn’t just a producer; he’s a sonic storyteller. His tracks are known for their emotional depth and technical brilliance – the perfect blend of minimal techno, deep house, and ambient music—each track a meticulously crafted journey through sound. With influences ranging from classical to jazz to world music, Robag’s music is as diverse as it is enchanting. His latest offering on the trailblazing Speicher series is no exception. True to his unmistakable style, “Naila” meanders between heartwarming positivity and menacing darkness induced by one of those bass lines only Robag can deliver. In short: He nail(a)ed it! On the flip side, he joins forces with the ominous Bruno Pronsato – an elusive character that has a string of cult releases on Perlon, Musique Risquée and Foom under his belt. “CDV” was initially released on his album “Live At Club Der Visionäre” on Logistic Records. Robag’s slick re-rub is pushing things decisively in an afterhour-ish direction. Mental music for mental times!  Robag Wruhme ist nicht nur ein Produzent, sondern auch ein Klanggeschichtenerzähler. Feines Tier veteran Johannes @klingebiel introduces @franz-matthews to the family and together they bring us “Ce Moment” EP, a basket of tunes full of colorful harmonies, bouncy grooves and poetic French lyrics. What more could one wish for?
The two producers and multi-instrumentalists met some years ago in their chosen
hometown Berlin and decided to fuse their producing and multi-instrumentalism game.
The first fruit of this labor was the much-loved and -played “Signs” on Heimlich records, now being followed by this EP here.
The title tune is an amalgamation of groovy electric bass riLs, spicy Prophet synth
sounds, melancholic vocals and certainly has something of that magic ingredient
people call the French Touch. A good tune to pick for House DJs who dig some Disco now and then and for Disco DJs in need of some solid House.
“La Traversée” is a crossing (multi-language pun intended) of bazillions of quirky synth sounds and melodies that somehow form a coherent whole, the sum of its part being a light and friendly but not cheesy house tune, that will make the sun go up on any dancefloor.
The mighty Kompakt overlord @michael-mayer-kompakt takes “Ce Moment” under his spell. The result is a grander and more mysterious aLair, made for bigger and darker dancefloors. The Sound of Cologne™ this is indeed!
Parisian up-and-comer @shimon-earthly adapts „La Traversée” into his sonic world. When Matthews and Shimon discussed the finished remix on the phone in French, all that le dilletant Johannes could understand from it were the words “très cool” and “after-hour vibe” , which… yes, completely tracks!

The first in a series of remixes for Michael Mayer’s latest album The Floor Is Lava comes from one of our favourite artists here at Kompakt HQ: PRIORI. Everything this Montreal-based artist has touched has turned to gold. His reworking of Mayer’s The Solution is certainly no exception. Rightly so, Priori has just been honoured with a Juno Award, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys. Congratulations, Francis!

Danny Howells arrives on Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time with the three-track ‘Throb’ EP, landing 16th May 2025. Howells, a quietly revered figure in house music since the mid ‘90s, delves deep across the ‘Throb’ EP, which celebrates subtle drum programming, otherworldly keys, and soundscapes throughout. The cossetting warmth of ‘Throb,’ a track which tips the smallest of nods to Danny’s role in the heyday of progressive house, was born out of a late-night studio session—long forgotten about and then rediscovered, re-appraised, as so many great tracks are.

‘Thrunk,’ another supremely heady cut, follows and sees keys slide around the mix, modulated and tweaked just enough to create a constant feeling of movement without losing balance, firmly rooted by a bassline that Howells, contrary to his usual practice, wrote first. Rounding things out on ‘Throb’ is ‘Threads,’ a track born out of a Fred P listening session and one that enlists London’s Elliot Herrington on keys. It’s an epic ode to classic Deep House, delivered in 2025 widescreen technicolour.

Danny Howells is a darling of British dance music. Emerging in the late 1990s with the likes of the era-defining Jackpot Records, his journey in dance music has always been about music, which has seen him eschew frantic touring and production schedules in favour of doing what he loves. Famous, for those in the know, as Cassy’s favourite DJ, Howell’s deft touch and subtlety as a DJ and Producer are evident in spades on ‘Throb.’

“I’m really pleased with this EP—three quite different tracks that have all been fitting really nicely into my sets recently. To have found a home for them on one of my all-time favourite labels is a dream come true!” - Danny Howells.

With Dead Man’s Hand - Poker Flat Volume VI, the label sharpened its edge. By early 2008, Poker Flat had already carved out a reputation for precision-crafted club music, but this compilation revealed a darker glint beneath the surface.

Curated by Steve Bug, the first CD laid down a hand of standout originals and sharp remixes. From the stripped suspense of “Behind the Curtains” by Steve Bug & Clé to Martin Landsky’s sleek “Man High,” every track was chosen with intent. Redshape’s haunting remix of Simon Flower’s “The Whisper Had It” and Sebo K’s version of “Let Me Dance” added further depth, keeping one foot in the shadows.

The second disc, mixed by Clé of Märtini Brös, moved with fluidity, threading together a deeper and more atmospheric side of the label. Raudive’s “Needles” (Steve Bug Remix), Ryo Murakami’s “Nightmare,” and Guido Schneider & Florian Schirmacher’s “Organic” all made an appearance, before drifting into the surreal finale with Märtini Brös’ “Karawane.”

Named after the infamous poker hand of black aces and eights, the one Wild Bill Hickok was said to be holding when he was shot, the compilation embraced a sense of risk, drama and high-stakes elegance that suited the Poker Flat catalog perfectly.
