As summer heat struck, it was possible to see the dimensions and outlines of an ancient construction; laying under the water, waiting for its time.”

Third V/A Compilation of Moving Pictures Label is titled “Aegean Forcefields”. The genres and musical borders are blended and twisted, as it is already customary to our carefully curated compilations. This time artists from Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, UK and Sweden are contributing their colours and textures to the palette of Moving Pictures imprint. Inside this package you will find dance floor weapons alongside living room melters and everything in-between. All of these sounds freely coexist and flow in our Moving Pictures universe.

Kalcagni - Lost In The System EP [Cosmoba // CMB001]

Cosmoba is a brand new Manchester based imprint from Kalcagni. Fresh from releasing his ‘Manners’ EP on Distrito 91, Kalcagni dishes up 4 slices of funk fuelled electro for this label debut.

Not new to the production game, having produced and DJ’d under many different monikers over the years, this latest project from Kalcagni pulls together this experience, powered by his freestyle and experimental approach to song writing.

 Lead track ‘Lost In The System’ features retro stylings and gritty electro bass hooks. This is swiftly followed up by ‘Multislacking’, the result of a weekend spent twisting up a modular rig, with wonky bass squelches and 80s pads underpinned by slamming beats.  

On the flip side, ‘Culture Vulture’ introduces some heavy 303 workouts, before 'After The Fact’ rounds off the EP nicely, taking the acid vibe in a slightly darker direction with wonky reese synth fills and jacked up breaks.

Mattr - A​-​Break [Loft & Sound // LS0012]

Following his remix for Max Cooper, Mattr’s next releases are two electronica / breaks tracks on his own imprint Loft & Sound. With these two records Mattr continues to build out his crafted approach to electroni- ca with two intricately layered and textural records. A-break features syncopated melodies, heavy bass and melancholic pads. Corps fuses granular synthesis and found sounds with delicate instrumental flutters to create an atmospheric record.

Mattr is a leftfield house and electronica producer, DJ, visual artist and label owner from Birmingham. He's had a busy 12 months with a remix of the classic house record by Mephisto (1992) followed by his own four track EP on the legendary Renaissance, two remixes for Berlin trio Akzenth, his first release on Balance Recordings and a remix for Max Cooper to round the year out. In between he's produced several releases on his own imprint - Loft & Sound and has a remix for Grammy nominated Steven Weston for an upcoming release.

His releases have been garnering support from Amé, Guy Gerber, Giulia Tess, Anja Schneider, Kelly Lee Owens, Max Cooper, Rodriguez Jr, & Laurent Garnier to name a few.

Mattr's broad musical palette often draws him closer to the more emotive side of electronic music, finding deep resonance with forward-thinking artists like Max Cooper, 1-800 Girls, Baltra, Overmono, Fourtet, Otik and Radioactive Man, whom you'll hear plenty of in his consistent & beautifully diverse mix series.

Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a leftfield house, and techno producer from Birmingham, now living in London. With residencies dating back to his hometown at Code with Steve Lawler as well as supporting gigs for Sasha & Danny Tenaglia, Mattr shared decks with the likes of Tale of Us & Jamie Jones before hosting his own events with innovators Alex Banks, Maxxi Soundsystem and XXXY.

It was from there that he made the move to Berlin to study music production & performance and where he'd form a friendship with label partner, Max Winstanley (Lewyn Stan) who he paired up with to launch their Helical Scan imprint.
