Born in the UK and raised in the coastal town of Yallingup in the southwest of Western Australia, Max Leaver - known professionally as SNAX - has been steadily carving out a name for himself in the world of underground music. SNAX’s production style continues to evolve, shaped by his musical influences and a fearless approach to production. Each track on the EP reflects SNAX’s signature ability to balance dance floor-ready intensity with deep undertones. The result is a cohesive yet eclectic body of work that captures the styles that define his sound. The project was produced entirely on the road, as SNAX spent six months traveling with nothing but a laptop.

Billenkoek Vol. 1 is the saucy opening chapter of Dutch imprint Booty School — indisputably solidifying the label’s distinctive lush, vibrant, and playful sound.

“Billenkoek” is a Dutch term that can be loosely translated as “bumcake,” but a more accurate translation would be “spanking.” In this case, it refers not so much to the punishment, but rather to a playful interpretation of it — the album functioning as a sonic spanking.

About the track:
I started this track when living in Denver last year. Most of my sound has been informed by my roots in Florida and the connection it has to breaks and Electro. After being away from Miami for some time I felt a deep need to create something that would feel at home in the spaces I used to DJ in. So the song is kind of a reaction to being in a new place that was a lot more relaxed but also feeling homesick for the chaos of Florida. The vocal sample comes from an old reggae track which was normal to hear in my house growing up. The song is meant to have a deep and dark feeling but still put you on edge and wake you up a bit, which I think is whats it feels like to walk around in Miami sometimes, especially at night, you never know whats going to go down.

Info: Arian Alexander (aka White Afghani) hits the Apparel Tronic main catalogue with Tales From The Backyard, a three-tracker that sounds like it was recorded on a dusty cassette left out in the sun, full of stunningly beautiful imperfections, minutiae and sonic history. It’s a Lo-fi EP at heart but rhythmically very sharp, drifting between grainy textures, deep techno grooves, and a subtle eerie, nostalgic, elegant touch you keep on discovering after each listening session. From the off-kilter bounce of the opening Escape Congo to the fast-burn swagger of Cougar, and finally the profound and intense haze of Before Leaving, there’s a kind of casual intimacy running through it all. Nothing here is trying to be flashy, just music that knows what it’s doing and lets the many hidden details do the talking. Arian’s been building a name for himself through a very personal brand of sound that wander between breakbeat, ambient, UK bass and oddball techno, always with his own logic and his classy style. This EP feels like an off-mic moment from one of his sets, something personal, a bit sideways, and totally comfortable in its own skin.
