For the first release of the 10” series, we welcome Design Default to the Dome with an EP that effortlessly orbits a beautiful yet precisely constructed world. The release encapsulates the atmosphere of his previous ambient works with the energy of his left of centre club releases demonstrating the depth of output this Parisian producer is capable of.
 
On the A-side, we dip into his distinctive approach to sound design with glistening melodies, flourishing through an array dreamy soundscapes on Eta Aquariids. We welcome back PD favourite Sputnik One whose rework ups the energy levels with a flip certified to move the floor while maintaining the euphoria and bliss of the original.

On the B, we are again transported to unexplored worlds on the uplifting journey of  Kagura where fragmented particles collide on the backdrop of uplifting otherworldly atmospheres.

Takama-ga-hara reflects the lofty sacred world from which the name implies - weaving through a haze of influences giving us something beautiful, engaging and unique and following on from a tough couple of years, a positive look into the future as we move towards more freedom, connection and positivity.

Producer and DJ @frontbench is most commonly spotted behind the scenes of @musicby199, which he set up in 2019 to give him and his friends a place to release music, and a chance to play in clubs. In the years that followed, he used the platform to showcase a broad range of his own productions, varying between club bangers and melodic home listens, and earning features in Mixmag, Trommel and Houseum.

Now, with a residency on London-based Aaja Radio and a thriving digital release series both in full swing, Front Bench is dialling in on a refined club sound. Hinging on an electro-tinged take on techno and breaks, he pulls together sounds old and new across dense, rolling sets that combine atmosphere and groove.

A romantic reimagining of Namai — the debut EP by thelastsunday — through the lens of Portland’s Bed of Roses crew. “I was instantly drawn to the Namai EP — its subtlety, drama, and overall atmosphere really resonated with me. I knew right away that I wanted to collaborate with this artist in some way, so being invited to take part in this remix project was a real honor. Getting some of the Bed of Roses crew involved didn’t take much convincing either — everyone was excited to contribute,” says Break Mode, head of Bed of Roses.

Born from a deep love for sound and emotion, Namai is a meditation on the ties between nature, people, and the self — told through poetic Lithuanian lyrics, rich textures, and intricate rhythms. Melbourne based producer, DJ and co-founder of Sumac Records, Jon Watts delivers his Butter Sessions debut, Music for 3 CDJs. With over 10 years experimenting as an artist, Jon has an established history with the Australian underground scene. Music for 3 CDJs, showcases two contrasting sides, revealing his ability to seamlessly navigate manifold sounds.

The A-side presents three distinct tracks, thread together with restless percussion and a propulsive force. The introduction to the EP, Prohaasation, is a medley of techno and electro fabrics which progressively build before abruptly halting -- generating suspense for the track to follow. The feverish William gasps and screeches in tones that peak and fall, accompanied by audio maintained throughout; reminiscent of a malfunctioning fax machine. Now It’s Done is a choppy and disjointed piece yet coherent in its structure that makes for a rewarding conclusion to the release’s first chapter.

Subtlety and minimalism prevail for side B, as Jon gifts us with loops that swirl and churn. AMB 4 marks the first deviation from the narrative of Side A; sounding like hypnotic swelling from the bottom of a deep well. AMB 5 follows suit, divulging more of the picture. Carved out of a sound bed of field recordings, the nine and a half minute piece enchants with its repetitive arc, a spaciousness mirrored in the EP’s farewell. The last track Piano 1, is an intricate study of a singular piano chord, examining the layers of the chord’s sustain that are disclosed. A testament to Jon’s unadorned restraint and confirmation of the old adage that less is really more.
