Who doesn't love a good Dizzee Rascal vocal!!?!? I tell you now, I'm an absolute SUCKER for it, and this saucy numba from Krysa has got DAT for me! Paired with some buubbly ass percussive layers and some taaaaaasty stabs, it makes for a CHEEEEKY as frick mid set number, guaranteed to get the booties SHAKIN!!!

Gavnlig's attention to detail and fine tuned ears has brought an immaculate soundscape that takes you for an 18 minute sonic and emotional journey through his 'Living in Fear' Ep. Beginning in the realm of doubt with 'Unappeasable' he tentatively starts the album with her cheeky cords and syncopated kick rhythms keeping us gripped and awaiting more. We are then brought into the depths of her despair with 'Low Point', dark and brooding with challenging throbs of bass. Next the title track 'Living in Fear' created with thoughts of acceptance lightens up with playful chord lines and sharp snare hits. Followed by 'From the Ashes' arguably the pinnacle of creativeness within the Ep, brought on by the feelings of over-coming we are reborn 'from the ashes' with Gudjon's off-kelter rhythms and break chops, shedding a whole new light on Uk Bass music to top off the Ep.

Well-established in Leeds through his work with Chorus and residency on Alto Radio, Kaidun has been refining his sound across the last year. Previous releases on Brick Sweat Records, Real Interactions and a number of self-releases have seen Kaidun uniquely fuse electro, trance and breaks.

His new EP "Living In Fear" showcases gritty percussion, deep bass, and repetitive vocal stabs shuffled up in unexpected ways.
During their Sound Design studies at Sonic College they released multiple EP’s, organized community-driven raves for local culture-starved youth and did event production for Strøm Festival. They’ve also held residencies at several community radios and combined with their years of experience DJ’ing in the Danish climbing community, Gavnlig has a layered understanding of every step of the sonic process - from inception of musical idea to the scoops and kickbins that make the crowd vibrate." Co-founder Rassan returns to the catalog in a five track EP of no-nonsense bass-heavy steppers, featuring a remix from Kyoto’s Stones Taro. 

Rassan kicks things off with ‘Saxon Dub’ uniting bass musics’ core elements with his own distinct flavor, as sprawling drums leak over the sweltering yet rhythmically placed bass line. ‘Slide ‘N’ Wine’ is a piece of screw-face-two-step that moves people from their seats, with fun heavily at its core; the type of track where approved looks are exchanged in the heat of the rallying club.

‘Up To No Good’ shuffles into the fore with bubble-gum vocal samples and rolling percussion before title track ‘Better Be Careful’ shuts things down with a frightening hair-raising slammer that should be used with caution.

One artist that knows how to make an impact is Stones Taro and since arriving on the scene with a string of productions on Scuffed Recordings to legendary UK label Hardline, Taro has cemented himself as one of the most exciting new names in dance music. Here he is on hand to remix ‘Saxon Dub’ lacing a chopped vocal sample over one of the best bass lines you’re likely to hear all year.

We welcome @phasmidmusic into the MEFD series with open arms and twisted melons as he delivers an enchanting electro-breaks banger entitled ‘Losing My Mind’.

The song fulfils its namesake, featuring an ensemble of swirling synths and omnipresent vocal chops that lurk within the tune’s hallucinatory ambience.

Despite the contemplative and hypnotic nature of the track, its foundations of driving breaks and smooth bass never fail to deliver all the energy required to bring any room to its feet.
