Following their 2021 Mood 4 Love EP on Fresh Take Records, Glasgow house duo Macka & Lowree are back with their highly anticipated debut album Without The Music (I Don’t Know Where I’d Be Dancin’).

Gaining support from the likes of Denis Sulta, Big Miz and Liam Doc, Macka & Lowree two made a name for themselves by capturing a distinctly old school vibe in their productions, pushing their signatures of intricate sampling and euphoric themes.

Without The Music (I Don’t Know Where I’d Be Dancin’) is a glorious ode to the classic house and disco that inspires the duo. Created with love and painstaking attention to detail, it is a richly rewarding and inspiring collection.

Across 12 brand new tracks, Without The Music… pays homage to classic sounds without ever feeling stuck in the past. From the freewheeling, propulsive energy of sample-based house cuts like Chorin’ Love and Numb 2nite to the darker, more electro and rave-based flavours of UNO (Live In This Muthafucka) and Detroit house stylings of the appropriately titled Affection, there is no doubt that Macka & Lowree are both passionate advocates of the 90s club culture and highly talented artists.

Radio 1 supported artists Chris Boyle teams up with Macka and Mark Mackenzie to deliver Debut EP ‘Still Not Discovered Yet’ on Glasgow-based label, Jackie Knows Karate Records

Chris Boyle’s much anticipated debut EP combines the talent across Scotlands dance scene stretching from Inverness with Mark Mackenzie to Edinburgh with Macka and finally Glasgow home of the renowned  Jackie Knows Karate Records as Chris puts his stamp on his sound in a 5 track record packed with summer bangers. Still Not Discovered Yet is an impressive debut for the local Edinburgh producer who is garnering support from the industries best selectors including the likes of Skream and Jackmaster. The record comes as the labels twentieth in a line of impressive club influenced releases. Hands in the air piano lines mix with hypnotic vocals to bring Still Not Discovered Yet to life.

Despite being his debut release Chris Boyle’s productions have already garnered a lot of hype with his tracks being featured on Sarah Story’s Radio 1 show as well as in recent times being supported by Scotland's own Ewan McVicar on his final Radio 1 residency show. 

N.N.Y. is the first example of Chris’ talents as a producer with catchy piano melodies combining with ear pleasing pads and vocal hook asking us to ‘come inside’ which is the perfect intro to the record. N.N.E. captures our attention with an iconic Soulsearchers sample which is later given the remix treatment by the hugely talented Macka. N.S.S is a tribute to the old school with warm string synths, house pianos and breakbeat fills to close out the EP after being given the Mark Mackenzie treatment with a darker dub take on the record.

Local Edinburgh producer Chris Boyle has been grafting and building his reputation around Scotland developing his skills as a producer and DJ by holding down residencies in Edinburghs Cask Smugglers bar as well as being featured in Lineups alongside established DJs Jasper James, Solardo, Mall Grab, Big Miz, Harri and Domenic to name a few. With further tracks signed to Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks the future is bright for this producer who is finally ready to be discovered.

PREMIERE: Chris Boyle - N.N.E (Macka Remix) [Jackie Knows Karate Records]

Berlin based All That Jelly continues a slew of dance floor records which has included a re-issue from Move D, records from Matthieu Faubourg and The Church Of Love including Paul Johnson with their next instalment from Plastik People and Hungarian Hot Wax affiliate Danielle Arielli.

Also known as ANDI A - an alias used predominantly for Electro and Breakbeat - Danielle runs the ever-reliable label and podcast series Tooflez Muzik and has a rich history of spinning and producing solid House Music which sits her neatly into the All That Jelly catalogue.

Her 'The Green House Experience' EP kicks off with 'Sperrstunde' which drives a hypnotic, tumbling sequence through a straight up 4/4 march. Filters and percussive flurries are deftly controlled as the track pushes towards a dense and sturdy bass line peppered with sharp blobs of acid. 'Get Your Shit Together' then follows up with an infectious, skipping groove. Aquatic stabs punctuate razor sharp drums and a bouncing low end before the track opens up into an elongated breakdown that is guaranteed to send any peak-time dance-floor into rapture.

'Getcha Body' then continues with more slick and refined House. Warm keys and a Chicago-tinged tone suffuse horn stabs and soulful vocals that work together to whip up a frenzy before the record concludes with 'Do What You Gotta Do'. A balmy melody swirls above another expertly crafted bass line that creates a sun-set sound and rounds the EP off perfectly.

Bunkire - Pieces (Original Mix)

Titled Computer Datafiles, by artist Luca Lucena, the EP was inspired by sounds from the early 2000s, when electro house was starting to gain traction in the global electronic scene, still before it became commercialized and lost its character. Around 2004/2005, many tracks were being released with this vibe, and Luca has always lived and admired it. In this EP, he brings back these references, trying to stay as true as possible to the production processes of that time, with much of the creation being produced on the Korg Electribe SX sampler, a classic of that era. Despite this strong inspiration, he also managed to infuse a lot of his current sonic identity: acidic, energetic, and sometimes even a bit dark. This EP also features a remix by Guilherme Cherubini of the track Deeejay, bringing a vibe more oriented towards house and groove, referencing the more futuristic and current aesthetics of Deep Tech and Addiction 21.
