Born on October 22, 1977, David Durango, of his real name David Duran, becomes interested by ACID HOUSE as of the early age of thirteen. Living in a hip-hop environment, his passion for graf is very quickly replaced by that of Djing. When he turns fifteen, he decides to invest in the appropriate material to be able to start playing vinyls in the nineties, attracted by the phenomenon of raves and the eletro movement, he gets influenced by Techno, Trance and Hard Tech. While going to house parties in his area, he gradually starts to get a few bookings to carry out in front of a public his music, the Tech-House.

In 2000, Durango’s path crosses with Ceyda (voices), Greg (drums) and David (cords). He starts to play with these electronic machines and is the founder of the band Coma Blank which allows him to compose electro pop rock music. After a large repertoire and a live concert very well handed, the band splits in 2004 for personal reasons. 

In 2005, his passion for this music is such that he decides to devote his time to production. Currently, you will see his releases on labels such as Poker Flat, Supplement Facts, Darkroom Dubs, and Surface to name a few.

Sound Department - Artist Spotlight #13: David Durango [Supplement Facts, Surface]

Barcelona-based DJ and Producer, Dactilar, began his trajectory in the late 90´s. 

His sets and productions radiate an elegant yet powerful sound, which flow from solid, groove techno to sophisticated and clean deep house, taking special care with arrangement, and adding a dub touch that characterizes his recognizable style.
Throughout the years, he has produced and remixed tracks for labels such as Avantroots, Apparel Music, Subtract Rec, Proton Music, Orgánica Rec.,Regular and Thoughless Music.

He has been remixed by Guy J (Balance Series), Pablo Bolivar and Izhevsky, among others. Alongside Vidall (aka Aphro of Pulshar), he has prepared an EP to be released in 2014, with remixes from heavyweights such as Martin Buttrich and Guti.

Sound Department - Artist Spotlight #15: Anton Lanski (Musik Gewinnte Freunde, Avantroots, Etoka)

Born 1981, Andrey PUSHKAREV is a Russian artist from Votkinsk (Pre-Ural region) who was born for DJing (he started when he was 15 years old). At the beginning of the second millenium, Andrey moved to Moscow. While performing at night, he worked during the day for the the Russian branch of the German music distribution company TraumBaum. This is how Andrey assembled and increased his vinyl collection which is today estimated to be about 5,000 records. In 2006 Andrey became a resident for the unique music web radio DeepMix.ru. By the end of summer 2011 the radio had broadcasted non commercial techno music to 6,000 monthly listeners from 53 countries for free and without any advertising. At the same time, Pushkarev’s reputation on several radio stations grew thanks to his many deep, melodic and uncompromising Techno mixes. From 2007 he starts DJing outside Russia.

Over the past two years, the polar bear of Russia has been very active. He released two EPs on French music label Circus Company as well as a track on Endless. His productions combine deepness and sensitive melodic Techno. They also show an attraction for stripped-down dancefloor music. However, Andrey remains, above everything, an artist known for his refined DJ-Sets. His passion for music is indefinable. He recorded roughly 300 podcasts and played in many radio shows across the world. Moreover, the movie Kvadrat is a good example of his dedication for electronic music and vinyl. It’s a feature-length documentary that explores the realities of techno DJing while using Andrey Pushkarev as a model.

Andrey deserves the nickname of ‘Russian mastermind’. His untypical background is what makes him so special and is something we value at LumièresLaNuit.

Andrey has already played all over Europe, Russia, the USA and South America, performing in clubs such as Arma17 (Moscow), Propaganda (Moscow), Rodnya (Moscow) but also outside of the Russian frontiers, at Supermarket (Zürich), Frieda's Büxe (Zürich), A38 (Budapest), Kristal Club (Bucharest), Studio Martin (Bucharest) or even Club Midi (Cluj-Napoca). He also span records in festivals like Kazantip (UKR/GE) or B My Lake (HU).

youANDme is deeply engrained in the German electronic music world and especially the international Berlin club scene. Not only are they in the heart of the bohemian capital for techno, they also serve a greater role as its artery, pumping blood through its veins with their labels as the valves. This has made them international transplants, playing gigs and festivals around the world in cultural hubs like New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Moscow, and Tel Aviv. Olivier Mateu’s wide-ranging inspirations and interests find their ultimate outlet as Rodriguez Jr., positioning him as Mobilee’s new master of eclecticism.

As one half of French electro act The Youngsters – best known for their two studio albums and singles for Laurent Garnier’s F-Communications – Mateu has already received enough plaudits and praise to last a lifetime. The Youngsters’ award-winning productions catapulted them into the international arena, taking them to some of the biggest clubs and festivals around the world.

Rodriguez Jr. reveals a different incarnation of Mateu’s musical psyche, one that strides ahead, guided only by his kaleidoscopic vision; moving through shimmering, contemplative electronica, to deep and urgent techno, leftfield melodic accents and quirky pop refrains, Rodriguez Jr. is the by-product of an untamed brand of creativity and a thirst for the new and unexpected. Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, Kraftwerk, and Michael Polnareff, Rodriguez Jr.’s spirit of adventure translates as soaring creativity, and music that cannot be pigeonholed.

Mateu manifests Rodriguez Jr. in his MLab Mk5 studio, which brims with vintage synthesizers and dusty analog gear. Acclaimed Rodriguez Jr. releases for imprints such as Mothership, Boxer Records and Giant Wheels, prefaced the quirky melodies of his bass-driven house hit Princess Guacamole for mobilee records, and the tropical techno of Kids of Hula for it’s sister label Leena Music. Drawing both pleasure and inspiration from live performance, Rodriguez Jr. relishes the opportunity to realize his project on the stage, and has done extensively throughout Europe and America.

As he restlessly seeks out the ultimate intersection between all of his disparate influences, Mateu explains it best: “Good electronic music is not a jail,” he says, “It should be enjoyable everywhere, from dancefloors to living rooms, and by everybody.” Now an integral part of the mobilee family, Mateu will continue to channel his vision, passion, and love of music into all that he does, and all that will come.

Sound Department - Artist Spotlight #2: Rodriguez Jr. (Mobilee Records)

Chymera hails originally from Cork, Ireland and after spending time in Dublin, Costa Rica and Barcelona is currently based in Berlin, Germany. Throughout his teenage years he was heavily immersed in various forms of guitar based music. Around the turn of the century his ear was drawn towards sounds of a more electronic nature and he quickly started collecting records and learning how to DJ.

In 2002 he made his first steps into production and over the following years gradually honed his skills. His productions often fit comfortably in between house and techno, and range from deeper cuts to epic, big-room tracks, all with a keen sense of melody which has become a trademark of his productions. After a number of compilation appearances on Irish labels and a self released debut album in 2005, he had his first international releases in late 2006 which brought him to the attention of the wider world. 

Since then he has released on various diverse and respected labels such as Delsin, Ovum, Connaisseur, NRK, Cocoon, Figure and Komplex De Deep. Also a live performer for almost as long as he has been making music so it's no surprise that his energetic live set is highly sought after and has brought him to many of the world's top clubs throughout Asia, Australia, America and all over Europe.

In between regular weekend gigs, he has been busy working in the studio for the past 18 months and his new album "Death By Misadventure" is finally ready for release on June 1st on Connaisseur Recordings. A proper 'album' experience from start to finish, it showcases a more introspective and wide ranging side to his musical oeuvre.

Sound Department - Artist Spotlight #9: Chymera [Connaisseur, Delsin, Ovum]

Hamburg / Germany based DJ and producer duo Kruse & Nuernberg have created some of the most interesting deep house around in the past few years, with early highlights including their 'Lovers 'n Fighters' EP on Noir Music or their remix on Om Records for Groove Armada and only recently their EP on Liebe*Detail 'Daze Without You' EP with a great success on Resident Advisor and Beatport just to name a few...

With their straight forward, modern approach to house music they caught the attention of some of todays most important underground labels; Lazy Days, Systematic, Mood Music, Rejected, NRK Music, Liebe*Detail, King Street and Kolour Recordings, etc who have all invested in K&N with enough remixes and original productions. Over the past few years Kruse & Nuernberg not only produced remixes for artists like Dennis Ferrer and Groove Armada, for their precious original tracks they also received some great remixes from legendary producers such as Tom Middleton, DJ Sneak, Vincenzo, Julien Chaptal and Fred Everything... 

Apart from playing numerous gigs on the weekends all over the globe they still manage to spend 5 days a week in the studio to work on their different projects. For instance 'Wiretappeur', a highly successful collaboration between Florian, Nils and greek producer Stelios Vassiloudis is just another proof that too many cooks never spoil the broth. With releases and remixes on John Digweed's imprint Bedrock they have just another high profile label under their belt.

A new studio in Hamburg, the digital label 'Save Room Recordings' and a long waiting list for tracks and remixes keep the guys busy – as usual!

Sound Department - Artist Spotlight #10: Kruse & Nuernberg [Liebe*Detail, Lazy Days)

Patlac has always been following his own vision of electronic music. He started off dj’ing and throwing parties at the age of fifteen in a small town nearby Hamburg and then eventually got into producing himself. His first releases in 2007 and 2008 led to a broader recognition of his skills. releases on several other labels like Liebe*Detail, Baalsaal, Danza Macabra, Doeasy rec. and Yippiee followed there after.
Beside his own releases Patlac has earned quite some respect as a remixer. His remixes for Noir, Pets Recordings, einmaleins music, darkroom dubs, night drive music, district raw, baalsaal, bouq.,sometimes with his best friend and studio partner Matthias Meyer, proved that he is a talented producer.

Patlac has never been caught by the idea of quick fame. The personality and commitment he gives to his music can be heard in his tracks. Full of a deepness, they speak to your heart without ever failing on the dancefloor.
All this aside, Patlac still keeps himself very down to earth. A sensitive guy, who is deeply involved with his local scene, caring about friendships and exploring all facettes of music with the curiosity of a newborn child. The future is bright for Patlac and it’ll be exciting to track the development of his productions in the next few years.
