Dreamland is a colloquial term for Area 51, the notorious military installation outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Having captured the public imagination for over half a century, therein is thought to reside some of humanity’s best kept secrets, principal among them a simple truth which many believe carries otherworldly implications. Beyond an ode to the esoteric, this song speaks to a narrative of longing and is meant to serve as a metaphor for the elusiveness of heart sought desires. It’s based on the premise of a tragic figure laying himself bare before the night. A man who feels he has only one thing left to live for so he decides to walk toward Area 51 having set forth on a journey from which knows he will not return. He sings these words through the cool Nevada desert air until he is brought to his knees.
