Making their debut on Manual Music, Dutch duo Around Us present their album ‘Reaching Home’. Here's the third EP leading up to the LP release later this year.

Based in Amsterdam, Around Us first emerged in 2018, quickly establishing themselves as a rising act with releases via Balkan Connection’s BC2 and long-standing Dutch imprint LuPS Records. World class DJ and progressive music tastemaker Hernan Cattaneo was the first to chime in with support. Showcasing one of the duo’s early productions ‘Sleeping Blue’ as part of his hugely popular Resident podcast. A bond with the Manual Music collective was also formed early on, as the well-received ‘Voyager’ EP landed in 2019 courtesy of label affiliate Cinematique. Four years later and Around Us now sits on a well-kept resume, with key projects on Click Records, Clubsonica, Freegrant Music and Manual Music’s progressive minded MNL division, all serving as vehicles for the duo’s deep and groovy sounds. Continuing on an upwards trajectory, Around Us now presents their first ever album project entitled ‘Reaching Home’ care of Paul Hazendonk’s Manual Music.

Its adventurous spirit is something Around Us relishes in, as they continue to survey their creative process on the album’s third single ‘Absolute’. An apt barometer of where the duo’s headspace is at, as they let hopeful soundscapes and heartfelt fragments descend over warm, inviting beats and spirited melodies. It’s eager optimism perfectly preludes ‘The Moment’, a joint production with fellow countrymen Callecat, where the Dutch quartet surveys exotic drum arrangements and electrified iterations of new age sonics. Beneath the powerful tidal waves of 'The Moment' lies the prophetic realities of 'Try This', a slow-burning drawl where percussive flurries and splashes of pyrotechnic synths meet in a comforting canopy of sound. More enigmatic yet is 'Reaching Home’, building with a subdued majesty, its smoky resonance makes you think but also feel, conjuring up otherworldly visions, perhaps from a time we've yet to experience.

Around Us & Callecat - The Moment

The latest release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue label is a remix edition of Fabian Balino's "Sent From Above EP", which was originally released in 2021.Fabian, a talented dj and producer hailing from the United States, made his debut on Sound Avenue's "Correlation" two years ago. For the remixes, Madloch invited some of the most promising artists in the electronic music scene, including DOT (formerly known as "Day Out Of Time"), Hobin Rude, and St.Ego.

DOT, from Brazil, released his amazing Copacabana EP on the Future Avenue sublabel in '21, while Hobin Rude, from Serbia, has released music on labels such as The Soundgarden, Beat Boutique, Sound Avenue, and Mango Alley. St.Ego, from Russia, has quickly gained recognition with two original EPs released on the 3rd Avenue label last year.

This remix edition of the "Sent From Above EP" is sure to be a standout release, featuring the diverse styles and talents of these artists. It's a must-listen for fans of electronic music, and a great addition to Madloch's 3rd Avenue label.

Antrim’s Or Two Strangers opens the new year with a first-time collaboration from K Loveski and Nicolas Benedetti. Russian artist K Loveski has been a beloved figure of the progressive house underground for well over a decade. A series of releases for Omid 16B’s Alola Records spearheaded what has been a thirteen-year creative swell. The Saint-Petersburg resident now boasts a resume highlighted by releases via Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Balance Music, Mango Alley and Or Two Strangers, while also earning the support of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J along the way. Meanwhile, Argentinean artist Nicolas Benedetti has enjoyed a quick rise since first emerging in 2019 with releases via 3rd Avenue, Droid9 and Or Two Strangers affiliate Strangers Beats. The Buenos Aires resident would quickly earn the praise of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Alex O'Rion, Mariano Mellino, Nicolas Rada and more, while landing key projects via Balkan Connection, onedotsixtwo and SLC-6 Music. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, K Loveski and Nicolas Benedetti unveil a three-track showcase for Or Two Strangers entitled ‘Laurana’.

The release begins with the duo masterfully synthesizing their talents into the progressive anthem that is ‘Laurana’. Mountainous grooves and wavy lines make for a smooth hip swinging energy, while cosmic creativities and ethereal phrasing add colour and depth across the first movement. Rhythm remains locked, while energy multiples with each successive pass, as percolating synth maneuveres and robotized vocals provide a bridge into the main break. Tension peaks across the interlude with colourful sonics and collapsing waves of light uniting in a pyrotechnic vortex, perfectly setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

The second selection ‘Spiral Nothing’ continues the pure progressive lean of the release with cosmic effects and driving percussion arrangements blanketing a character-rich capsizing groove. A touch more atmospheric than its predecessor, misty sonics provide a colourful backdrop for sweeping effects and clustered stabs to drive energy into a memorable break. The intuitive musical dialogue held between the duo is impressive across the centrepiece, as melodic coaxes and soulful synth phrasing emerge for moments of meditative bliss, as the beats drop for a groove-centric finale.

Deeper and more elusive still is the third and final selection ‘Fashionably Late’. Thematically distinct, as funked-up bass stabs and kaleidoscopic effects ring out in timeless suspension, creating a utopian narrative where indistinct vocals and enlightening rhythms resonate in a rare combination of atmosphere and groove. A thought-provoking conclusion to an excellent first-time partnership from K Loveski and Nicolas Benedetti, an artist duo who have delivered some of their most engaging work to date here.

Founded in 2011 by Belgian DJ and producer Madloch, Sound Avenue is an electronic music label that stands for quality and originality.
