»Melaka« is a piece from the roman946 album »mooncake songs«, where it serves as a bracket to the song »罗小妹 luó xiǎo mèi (Sister Luo)«. This remix augments it to a real track with even more old-school late 90s, early 2000s feel. When you listen to old-school techno/house/eelctro today, you wonder how slow it was, almost like meditation music, compared to how fast and furious it sounded at the time. This is an interesting contradiction to me even today.

What a great collection of footsteps. This collection is uniquely recorded with the left channel microphone in close perspective and the right channel microphone in distant perspective. This collection has a variety of shoes on a variety of surfaces recorded in an exceptionally quiet world class foley studio. Extremely natural in sound with long recording takes. Shoe types have been recorded at various walking and running paces for added variety.

Close your eyes and drop in. My third collaboration with Arran from Looking flutes and I think my favourite.

'Shakuhachi' is a deep fusion of worlds, where ancestral breath meets modern bass. Live-recorded, soulful melodies from the Japanese shakuhachi flute drift over a landscape of pulsating, earthy basslines and expansive ambient soundscapes.

This track was crafted as a soundtrack for inner exploration, a rumbling bass to anchor you deeply to the earth while the flute lifts your spirit. A perfect offering for conscious dancefloors, healing spaces, and sacred ceremonies.

1. Shakuhachi

A folk-blues meditation on perception and awakening. The singer wanders through a world of fear, loss, and disillusionment—only to discover that the paradise he sought was never elsewhere. Inspired by the Parable of the Skillful Physician and the revelation of the Eternal Buddha’s Pure Land, the song reimagines enlightenment as an act of seeing clearly: that this burning, broken world is already sacred.

Sparse finger-picked guitar, weathered vocals, and a hush of resignation carry the listener from lament to illumination.

This isn’t escape — it’s arrival.

The world I see is smoke and rust, a land of grief and dread,
