Twilight Techno Groove

Tzena is one of the youngest Slovenian upcomers and this mix was recorded just in time to ease our post NY depression.

1. Who are you and what do you do? 
I am a 20 year old music lover, DJ and a producer padawan from Ljubljana, Slovenia. I am first and foremost a DJ and I still have a lot to learn about music production. When I'll have some proper material backing me up, I'll feel confident putting the word 'producer' next to 'DJ'.

2. What is your connection with the music?
I played the piano for 9 years throughout primary school. When highschool started I quit, but I quickly picked up DJing. This sounds kinda cheesy, but I've always loved the idea of playing music to other people, even before I knew about electronic music, what DJing is and how it's done. When I was around 16 I finally had the balls to buy myself a DJ controller and the rest is history. Since then I've explored virtually every genre electronic music has to offer. It took some time to dig my way into the underground, but now I finally feel at home.

3. Tell us more about this Soundhitectures mix. 
Making a mix like this is very challenging for me. I'm into a lot of different vibes and subgenres and for a long time I struggled with making a smooth mix. It's easier when playing live, because you can choose the correct tracks based on the time, the place, the people and it's a lot more organic. Here, you have to at least outline the mix in advance. I guess I tried to keep things a bit more melodic and positive, not too functional, clubby and dark. Basically something you can listen to any time of the day or night, but still danceable.

4. What are you working on right now? 
Right now, I'm focusing a lot on music production, as it is still my weak spot. I have an musical education, but I still lack the technique and experience. I'm just glad I'm getting some recognition by the underground scene in Ljubljana and playing on a regular basis. I'm becoming more involved with the Underground Future crew and the club K4, both are renowned for throwing some of the best parties around so I'm very happy about that. There's also a lot of other exciting stuff coming this year so keep your eyes peeled.

5. Plans for the future?
In the following year I plan to put as much energy as possible into learning about production. I don't want to limit myself to just functional club music, but to be able to follow my inspiration, regardless of genre. As always, digging deeper and deeper, upgrading my collection, perfecting my DJ technique and expanding my horizons on both electronic music and music in general.

The music we all love is the music we like to call as space music. We feel that it helps us to expand our minds and connect us together in the most brilliant ways. 

It’s not important if this happens while we are dancing our asses off or during mediation sessions. It’s always in us - and we share a part of it.  

Sometimes this means a club set, other times it’s a piece of ambient music for home listening or a music release that you can download and play in the club. Every artist is a world on its own - interconnected with others, environment, past experiences and the future that makes him/her unique. We create space to connect, honor & respect that.
