I got the opportunity to officially remix this classic song to coincide with the release of a new Donny Hathaway box set. I was given the original multitrack master of the studio version (different from the live version)and it consisted of 8 different instrument and vocal tracks (as opposed to the more usual 24 tracks) 
When I take on a remix, my first goal is to make it work on a current dance floor. I like to stay very close to the originally recorded sound and In most case there's plenty to be reworked on the multitrack master to achieve this. 
This case proved a little different as there were few rhythm elements I could use to fit within current standards of club loudness levels. So I decided to take a slightly different approach, and add a new set of (acoustic) drums,  to bend the original Soul vibe a little towards Disco territory.

YOUNG FATHERS - 'LOW'

Here's a low res preview of a mix I did for Phred & Yann at La Dame Noir. Original track is by my musical comrade Pete Herbert alongside Danton Eeprom. They like their disco all punk funk and 80s style down Marseille way...so the original led the way and I tried to take it in the direction of some Mad Professor dub style take on a Bauhaus or Siouxsie track. Hope you like it! Out soon on La dame Noir.
