We’re very excited to introduce our ‘Artist in the spotlight’ series! 

You can expect a bi-weekly podcast on Wednesdays featuring a wide variety of local artists representing different sub-genres. 

For this first podcast we’re thrilled to invite Adjust(BE)! Because of their passion for techno and their support for other artists, it felt only right to have them as our first guests. 

Expect a captivating and sleepless journey into the dark depths of techno, filled with intense chapters focusing on hypnotic & dark elements.

About Adjust(BE):
Ventured many years together in the darkest depths of techno, these 2 frequencies collided with an outburst of energy.
Equipped with a melodic, rumbling and driving dedication to their passion, their journey began many years ago. It was in 2018 when they took the MUSICASA producers education to pursue their dream.

This duo, knowing each other for over a decade, has 1 single goal: to adjust your mind.

2020’s proven to be their first and firm step into pursuing their dream.
Hosting a podcast (Adjust (BE) Invites) where they’re inviting numerous DJ’s/Producers to make a signature guest set in these difficult times, being a member of the ‘Underground Kollektiv Radio’ show, performed on livestreams and having a second release in 2021, they’re moving with full force.

Their style can be best described als ‘energetic’, ‘no-nonsense’ and ‘emotional’ in a wide range of the techno genre, however they prefer to go head-on full melodic into the deepest and more emotional sides of techno.

Third artist in the spotlight: Lando Riské 

This week we pick up the pace a bit. Lando treats us with an 80 minute strong, dark & deep techno journey.

About Lando Riské:
Lando Riské is an emerging techno DJ and producer based in Antwerp, Belgium. He has been involved in art lifestyle since the age of sixteen. Through photography, videos, and performing, Lando cemented his love for arts.

Creating the soundscapes for his videos he started to focus more and more on the sound portion of the creation process. Aiming for a minimalistic and abstract style, he started to fall in love with creating music. To complement and learn more about the scene, he proceeded to become a producer and soon after a DJ. Knowing what works on the dancefloor, and what drive people to dance, helped Lando create better music.

He releases music that translates his emotions. Moreover, through his performances, he takes the audience into a journey from the beginning until the end that will impact them and want more. His uptempo, driving and groovy techno music will resonate with any electronic music aficionado.
Lando Riské is an artist to keep an eye on and ear out for as he is set to leave his footprint in the music scene.

Artist in the Spotlight 008 - NOVAH

Since our goal of this platform is to promote the local scene, we would love to highlight more underground genres as there is so much more to discover other than techno. We're kicking things off with a new podcast by Bobby & Djenko, they bring us a groovy minimal house & deep tech set.

"In this mix, we tried to deliver a perfect balance between the groovyness of Minimal House and the 
monotony and simplicity of Deep Tech. This combination along with exciting build-ups & deep drops

About Bobby & Djenko:
Bobby & Djenko is a 20-year-old Dj/Producer duo from Antwerp, Belgium that focuses on Minimal 
House & Deep Tech. They discovered the magic of music at age 13. From the age of 15 they started 
playing local parties with their then EDM sound, which after years evolved into their contemporary 
Minimal/Deep Tech grooves.

Every show, Robbe and Jenko try to provide the perfect balance between their minimal grooves and 
monotonous deep tech. They try to create a unique story in each set that consists of peaks and 
valleys of energy. As a result, the audience never gets bored of their grooves. 
Their greatest strength is their friendship that they exude every set. The two best friends themselves 
enjoy their music so much that it is even fun to watch. They are working hard on new releases & 
have cool shows coming up. With that being said, Bobby & Djenko are ready to make it in the 
underground house scene.

Artist in the Spotlight 009 - Bobby & Djenko

New born DJ duo MRT left a great impression on us after they competed in our Studay Afterparty DJ contest & we are happy to have them in our spotlight for podcast nr. 10! 

Expect an energetic hour packed with fast-paced groovy tunes.

"For this set we tried to bring you the finest selection of releases from Bristol to Antwerp up to Copenhague. We wanted to bring something  different to the table and especially the scene. The tracks were carefully squeezed through our redlining mixer to bring you 57 minutes of Hard Dance Meditation."

About MRT: 
Maserati racing team consists of two individuals who try to deliver a sound that is rarely presented on the Belgian nightlife's menu. MRT brings fast paced dance music with a whiff of ghetto, a wink to 90's eurotrance, and a whole lot of phunk. No boring four to the floor beats, but strictly sounds that give crowds not a single moment to rest during gigs.

Artist in the Spotlight 012 - Stijn Vandensande

First Artist in the Spotlight of the year and it’s a heavy one. DØEMP. delivers his signature high energy, hard techno set to kick off 2k23 with a bang! 

“For this podcast, I wanted to bring out the heavier artillery and some personal favorites. I'm always on the lookout for the new sound of today, and that in a time where there are countless new edits or remixes coming out every day. With my concept SF RB H R, we also always try to find today's talents, big chance you'll see someone of the tracklist on their events anytime soon. Ofcourse I threw in some of my own productions but I also listen a lot to Franck nowadays, he is very talented producer from Scotland, so he had to come back in this mix. Even though I play all kinds of harder techno, this mix is a bit of everything. From hardtechno to early rave/ hardcore to hardance, something you can get me into for a night. An authentic DØEMP.-sound.”

 “I've been playing music since puberty. Where it all started with Drumnbass, I soon found my true passion when I moved to Antwerp. I got a student job at Club Vaag and since then the harder side of techno became my trademark. I started producing my own music and soon released records on labels in Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid. To spread this passion even more, I started SF RB H R with 2 lifelong friends. A rave concept where we book artists from all over the world for their new and modern sound.”

About LEXI:
LEXI is a young ambitious DJ from Antwerp. She is known for her high energy sets with hard hitting kicks and a heavy bass, which create a sensation of pure euphoria and rage. RPTR is a hard techno DJ and producer known for his dark and energetic sound. Next artist in the spotlight: Herman Crespo! Herman left us truly amazed with his contest entry for our previous event. He brings us an energetic hard house set full of trance-inspired breaks & old skool grooves.

“This set ambitiously asks where we have arrived in 2023. Do we all need fast paced and permanent four-by-fours, strobo’s and Paris-Possession-inspired dance moves? Which 90s tracks should remain on floppy disks and which hidden gems can we re-discover? What would Tony De Vit think of the hard house revival? This set attempts to re-direct your 2023 towards energized breaks, an unambiguous love for UK products and trance-inspired house smoothness derived from vinyl-only’s.”

About Herman Crespo: 
Herman Crespo is deliberately not known for 39 goals at Lazio Roma. This one digs crates, loves an emotional trance-vocal and questions everything he sees. The Spanish-Belgian has been collecting and selecting the finest gems for over more than ten years, and aims to deliver eclectic and electrifying sets. Only once he forgot to include his signature piano chords. Trust me, this man’s career will not end at Chelsea.

About Ean Mack: 
Techno DJ/Producer, hailing from Antwerp. 
After staying in Berlin for a while, he got captivated by the dark sounds and decided to get behind the decks as well as produce his own tracks.
Quickly after, in the summer of 2022, he released his first EP’s, all of which entered the Beatport top 100 Techno charts as well as 2 of them reached top 3 spots respectively. Another recent release in February 2023 on the Berlin label ''DEESTRICTED", established himself as a producer.  
His sets are fast, groovy, sometimes hard but always different, best described as “not your typical techno DJ”. With that said he gets the crowds moving in clubs across Europe. And soon more releases are to come.

Maarten Fossey, better known as FØSS, is an antwerp based dj/producer who likes to produce/play several subgenres like hard techno, hard (psy)trance and hard dance. In our spotlight this week: Remorseless hard techno by VERBØV!

“For the Sound of Antwerp podcast I’ve recorded a 1 hour mixtape wich shows my style and sound. The mixtape consists of a mix between hard techno/acid/hard groove/techno. Balancing different genres together like i would do when i’m performing. You can also find a production of my own (my first) in the tracklist."

About VERBØV:
Senne Verboven AKA VERBØV is a young (hard) techno dj/producer born and raised in Antwerp, Herentals, Belgium. His style can be described as hard, powerful and energetic. VERBØV has been a DJ for 4 years and started producing in september 2022.

The main goal when VERBØV performs is establishing a connection between the audience and the DJ. Mixing on the fly and combining different subgenres to keep the flow/groove going.

One of his greatest achievements would be reaching the finals of KONTEST ANTWERP out of 85 sendings. During the finals he was coached by the belgian techno legend Steve Redhead. Another one would be simply playing in different big city’s around Belgium and meeting awesome like minded people in the scene.

This week in our spotlight: pumping techno by VOIT! 

“For this mix I chose the kind of tracks that give me inspiration when I work on my own tracks. You'll hear influences of harder, darker techno mixed with neorave/acid sounds. 
At around 16 minutes I also added an unreleased track of mine called Gettin' Started. Closing the set with a dreamy, rolling mix of an modern classic dance track.”

About VOIT:
Tom Ghielens, producing and dj'ing under the alias VOIT out of Antwerp has been working on his sound for quite some years. Starting out dj'ing local venues and producing with his friend. Lately he's been putting in the hours in the studio under his solo project VOIT, resulting in the recent release of his track "PSMP" on Theacidmind records.
His sound is a mix of hard and dark techno with some modern acid influences. You'll hear this in both his productions and mixes.

Artist in the Spotlight 026 - VOIT

As a foretaste of full circle next week, we invited Microwave for our next Artist in the Spotlight podcast. In this mix she takes us on a unique 1h trip between Electro, House & Techno!

“On my last flight, all of a sudden there was a weird kind of turbulence.. My chief and commander told me to check out the left wing. Armed with my trust against rust WD40, I left my copilot and went to the machine room. There I saw the machine-room-man slowly losing his mind. Looks like he must have made eye contact with an acidbird.. An acidbird is in the machine room?! Of course!! That’s where the noises came from! I put on my Neptune glasses and started looking in between the machines.. must. not. make. eye contact! A drip of light got my attention and there it was! Beautiful! So wild! So many colours shimmering in the moonlight! It was exhausted and haunted. I caught it with a blanket and tried to calm it down. It started to make purry noises and became very friendly when it saw I was meaning no harm. I could see his name engraved in a ring around his fluffy claws “Leopold”. It made it clear it got in by accident and wanted to go out again, it asked the machine-room-man nicely but got into a discussion because he got blinded by its eyes. Thank the universe for Neptune glasses! I gave it some nutrition and it thanked me with some warm, heart filling energy! Time to open the window and set it free again.. it flew out, into the cosmos, with the intention that its feeling of freedom and grace would spread over the earth. Leaving me and the, by now totally nuts, machine-room-man with a pleasant and blessed flight towards the future.“

About Microwave:
Probably electrocuted at a rave in a previous life.. reincarnated and ready to serve you acid infused electro with leaking drips of techno and house, occasionally spiced with a slice of a crunchy 80’s-90’s tune. Playing with tensions within a various palette of track selections, she’ll grab you and take you on journey trough space and time, giving you that underground club feeling. She can cook, heat you up and turn you around. The higher the wattage, the faster the cooking time. Adapting to line-up and playtimes. 

While being a lifetime long lover of the energy music brings in underground scenes, she started DJing only a couple years ago. Curating sounds that create her own high-energetic journeys. Finding a companion in Illustre, she started PLUSHPUSH to extend that storytelling in an experience that goes beyond sound.

About Fragmented:
Fragmented is a DJ & producer based in Antwerp, whose sound can be described as fast-paced, trancey techno. His sets are energetic and filled with captivating melodies and vocals with a nod to the 90's. In 2023, he debuted with two tracks. One, a remix for SWART released on Vague, hitting 100k+ Spotify listens. The other, a recent Techno Wereld free download. With more tracks waiting,  Fragmented eagerly anticipates sharing his music with the world.

Artist in the Spotlight 030 - DJ CHOPPER

Next artist in our spotlight: White Noise. Hard & energetic fast paced techno on the menu!

“My set is a highly energetic, fast pacing and hard mix. I play a variety of underground Hard techno/industrial with the occasional commercial edit to appeal to a wider audience.”

About White Noise:
Antwerp based DJ White Noise (‘99) started playing electronic music in 2011. Raised in Schelle by two house and techno loving parents, Yorgen was already jumping and dancing to their music since he was a child. Even at the time it was clear that Yorgen would become a musician himself.

Things got serious in 2017 when he was noticed by Crystal Events and got the opportunity to play at The Rave Cave of Tomorrowland. Things took off from there and requests came in from all over Belgium. At the age of 25 he is still improving as a DJ and producer as he is exploring the musical landscapes of Hard Techno.

During his four year musical education, he chose to master the drums. It was his interest in rhythm and his ability to create his own beats that made him choose this instrument. In time he started to experiment with electronic sounds and made a couple of Hard Techno edit’s of old songs. It was his remix of The Police - Message In A Bottle that got supported by famous artists in the Hard Techno scene like: Trym, Luciid, Vendex…

Yorgen already performed at Studio Brussel, Tomorrowland, Club Vaag, The Common, Hard Harder Hardst, Dour Festival, Vice Festival, Studio Ibiza and loads of other parties in Belgium. An insane passion for music, combined with the ability to mix different styles of music made him the promising DJ that he is today.

About Miamor:
Be prepared for this emerging talent; Miamor from Antwerp. This young Padawan is known for her excellent music selection and tunes sweeter than her smile. 
As a 'Bisou' resident, she likes to experiment between the day and nightside of house and its subgenres. Combining the best of French house with a bit of funk and a trancy kick of hard house, she knows how to deliver high energy with ease.
