The Live electronic musicians and producers Sound Of Mint are serving us in their debut EP on Camel RIders, three colorful and mesmerizing originals: 'Sama Bena' and 'Minayo' featuring the exceptional Kora player from Senegal, Mbemba Diebate, in addition to the EP third track 'Kolinga'. 

Sound Of Mint's originals navigate through the vast landscapes of West Africa, creating an impeccable fusion of traditional instruments and rhythms, epic vocals, and organic elements which are all coated with fine electronic melodies and beats, suited for a wide range of moods and settings.

First, we have 'Sama Bena' and 'Minayo' which both display an uplifting and warm atmosphere, combining divine Kora sounds, hypnotizing vocals, and captivating melodies with fine electronic sounds. The third original by Sound Of Mint is 'Kolinga', the EP theme track which combines funky traditional melodies, Guitars, organic percussions, wooden sounds, synths, and intoxicating tribal vocal fragments, which create all together with a fresh World Music Bluesy tune. 

On remix duty, we have the pleasure to welcome the Russian producer DIBIDABO and the Tel Aviv-based producer Salmani, with their debut on Camel Riders. In addition, we are thrilled to have back on our label the Japanese-Israeli producer Yamagucci, Feller from Beit Oren, and Carla Valenti from Chile. Next up on the Madorasindahouse trip around the world’s sounds, we envision the Sub-saharan vibe, mixed with electronica, organic, and afro by some of the most exciting producers of the genre.

Sound Of Mint, deliver two originals, Ya Sidi and Waiting To Fly, collaborating with Farasha, Yahya, Sami Chaouki, and Samba Diabate, exploring the ground between downtempo and afro house. The duo is comprised of Fadel Lahlou, the Moroccan DJ and producer, and Joel Pellegrini, the award-winning percussionist and film composer.

On the remix side, Ali Kuru strengthens the Greek-Turkish connection with his own musical voice. The Crosstown Rebels / Sol Selectas producer, focuses on his slow textured deep beats version of Ya Sidi, while the celebrated Kenyan remixer Saint Evo, captures the African spirit of the song, transforming it into a modern afro house anthem. To top it up, Valeron makes one more version of Ya Sidi, perfect for that Mykonian sunrise at the beach of Scorpios, a style that he has perfected of the years of his residency at the legendary Cycladic venue.

We are honored to be releasing our  Sound of Mint​ debut EP ''Eternally Mine'' on Alt Orient. The EP consists of two original songs featuring the French Algerian vocalist Waxas Bahia​ who wrote and sang the mystical lyrics to "Eternally Mine'' the first song of the EP. The second song "Sudani Bambara“ is a homage to the oldest Moroccan Gnawa song and a collaboration with one of the brightest and upcoming Moroccan Gnawa Musicians Màalem Dalal Abdelaziz​

The EP comes with three different remixes, where each of them has a different atmosphere from Omerar Nanda​ from Turkey, Zuma Dionys​ from Russia and Megablast​ from Ibiza.

Sound of Mint's take of the touching 'Lost Horse' by Asaf Avidan

Asaf Avidan really did lose a horse, which led to the tsunami of emotions he put into this song. It sounds like a lucid dream, but according to Avidan, a pack of wolves chased his horse off a cliff. He spent four days looking for the body, but never found it.

"Suddenly I gave that up," he explained on the Songfacts Podcast. "I sat down and wrote the words 'lost horse' on a piece of paper, and just bawled. It was obvious that I wasn't weeping just over my horse, but rather about the idea of loss, how entropy always wins - the second law of thermodynamics. So every version of myself that I dreamed to have was lost, every relationship and every friend. I began writing the song in that mood and I wrote about this love that I just lost, this relationship.

The title is very specific about my lost horse and the verses are very specific about a relationship that I had, but the chorus needed to be something more than that, so 'what we are is sundials for the gods,' meaning we are these decaying bodily things for the gods to have some point of reference for how time passes, because the gods don't age or die. So we live this trench of a life as just examples of entropy like everything else in the universe."

Yseult has struck again. Even more intensely, armed with her trademark creativity and unquestionable talent. In the light of her latest EP, Noir, supported by the track Corps, the singer recently announced the arrival of a new project entitled BRUT, still within her own record label, YYY Records. With BAD BOY, the first track unveiled, she "paints a picture of self-abandonment with her voice and her body". And the atmosphere is incredible. Between eroticism, sentiment, sadomasochistic culture, and unabashed vulnerability, Yseult has once again turned the small world of French song upside down.

Our super-explosive take alongside genious sax player Axel Camil of the sublime 'Yellow Fever' by the uncontested KING of Afro-beat the one and only Fela Kuti

Fela deplores the fashion among African women for skin-whitening creams, an example of the post-colonial inferiority complex he believed was holding back the country's development. The song addresses the fashion much as 1973’s “Gentleman” berated African men for adopting European suits and ties. Fela explains that if you catch an “original” fever such as jaundice, you will suffer but, with luck, survive, and your symptoms will fade away. But if you catch an “artificial” (self-inflicted) fever, such as the craze for skin bleaching: “Artificial catch you… na your money go do am for you, you go pass yellow, you go catch moustache for face, you got get your double colour, your yansch go black like coal, you self go think say you dey fine (but) who say you dey fine?” Whitening creams make you look sick on the outside, says Fela, and are symptomatic of being sick inside, too.

trndmsk: What inspired you to produce the EP?

Sound Of Mint: After touring extensively in Morocco throughout the end of 2017 and all of 2018, we sat down in our recording studio in Casablanca after having released a remix on the Canadian label Griffintown records entitled „Bloom“ in collaboration with Moroccan electronic music producer Cee El Assaad one of the top 10 Afrohouse producers in the world thinking how can we create a musical fusion and marriage between the Western modern world and the African ancient and traditional world breaking those cultural barriers through 2 original songs „Eternally Mine“ and „Sudani Bambara“. We are honored to be releasing Sound of Mint's Debut EP ''Eternally Mine'' which consists of two original songs featuring the French Algerian vocalist Bahia Waxas who wrote/sang mystical lyrics recorded and The second song „Sudani Bambara“ is a homage to the oldest Moroccan Gnawa song and a collaboration with one of the brightest and upcoming Moroccan Gnawa Musicians Maalem Dalal Abdelaziz.

The EP comes with three different remixes, where each of them has a different atmosphere from Omerar Nanda from Turkey, Zuma Dionys from Russia and Megablast from Ibiza.

During this France tour, we had the chance to be accompanied by very talented world-renowned musicians such as Abou Diarra (Mali)Oumou Sangaré's Ngoni Kamele Grio, Samba Diabate (Mali) one of the best African guitarists in the world & French-Algerian talented vocalist Waxas Bahia.

Sound of Mint is an electro-ethnic live act created by FADEL LAHLOU.
This original project is a new musical concept fusing electronic music and
atypical acoustic / analogic instruments from all over the world.
Sound of Mint has collaborated with renowned World Music musicians such as Samba Diabaté, Abou Diarra, Mbemba Diabaté, Sami Chaouki and Marta Lunares to name a few releasing numerous major original tracks on
some of the most prestigious international Afro-House & Electro-Ethnic record labels such as Buddha Bar Records (Paris, France), Madorasindahouse (Greece), AltOrient (Canada), Café De Anatolia (Worldwide), Medina Records (Morocco).

His mystical, captivating, traditional, avant-garde original compositions have
received remarkable support from the biggest names in the electronic music scene such as Black Coffee, Adam Port, Blond:ish, Laurent Garnier, Acid Pauli, Nick Warren, Sabo to name a few; allowing him to tour more than 800+ shows across France, Greece, Morocco, Mexico, the USA, Canada and Angola.

This vibrant & energetic musical project can be described as a colorfully
orchestrated electro- ethnic live performance with both surprising and
enchanting improvisations inspired by the cultures of the world.
