Carbis Summer

This is my instrumental cover version of the classic Eels track “Susan’s House” taken from their 1996 debut album, “Beautiful Freak”. 

Even though the verse is just spoken word, I sounded ridiculous when I tried to ‘sing’ it, even with the old fashioned phone receiver effect so I decided to leave it as an instrumental!

Just messing around with Garage Band on my iPhone when I stumbled across a cool double bass. I immediately thought of the cool bassline to Roy Budd's 'Get Carter'. I worked out the notes for the bass, then the lead, added few bongos and loads of reverb and bang, job done. Apart from the hammond solo...that was a bit trickier. Trying to play hammond organ solo on a phone isn't easy but after a few attempts I came up with something which I found acceptable.

Get Carter Theme (iPhone Garage Band version)

A cover version of White Shirt (originally by The Charlatans) by a band I was in during the mid to late 1990's called 'Beach'.

I warn you now, it's rough! Very rough. It's taken from a cassette I recently found in my loft. It was recorded in one take, with all instruments plugged into a very cheap little mixer which then went straight into the microphone jack on my bedroom Hi-Fi. Oh, and we didn't have a drummer so we used a drum machine. Like I said, very rough.
