Process notes: I used a probability gate (Count Modula's Chances module)to block 75% of clocks to the voices, on average over time. I took it as ok to let reverb tails count as silence. The resulting clip was brought into Reaper where I used a limiter on the master channel.

Disquiet Junto project 0607: Compose a piece of music in which the relative amount of sound to silence starts at zero (that is, no sound), rises to approximately 40 percent (that is, 60 percent silent) and returns to zero again. Keep the pace fairly steady.

Process notes: I used a probability gate again like last week, but modulated the probability from 0% to 40% and back again using one long ramp from Rampage.  That ramp also controls starting and stopping the recording.

This [disquiet0621] assignment had me scrounging around for bits that had lain dormant on my HD, and when I found this it felt kind of incomplete and seemed to lend itself perfectly for enhancements of all kinds. I supplemented the existing welcoming major key guitar ideas with a healthy helping of fatty Jazz bass lines soaked in delays, plus clicks'n'cuts percussion & naughty machine beats to give it a bit of a kick.

Anyway, enjoy and be sure to gobble all of this up -- as we all know, leftovers often taste even better the next day, and I should think that that is certainly the case here.

I’m reading Circe by Madeline Miller, a retelling of the Greek myth of Odyssey and feeling inspired by the imagery.
At one point after being betrayed in love, Circe transforms the nymph Scylla into a six headed monster who guards a narrow passage in the sea. Scylla devours and destroys any sailors and ships who come near her. 
And in the classic Greek myth of Odyssey there appear sirens; beautiful, dangerous half woman, half bird creatures whose song will be death to any sailor that hears it.
I’m fascinated by this idea of dangerous women creatures at sea symbolizing temptation, peril and death. Scylla, monstrous and hungry, the sirens beautiful and sweetly singing but nevertheless deadly. Large wooden ships slicing through the water. Masculine power being crushed by the lure and seduction of these creatures.
