Over the course of 2013, we have all been taken on a variety of magical journeys through unique fusions of music and art. Whether you were sharing the room with a 20 foot gorilla shooting lasers out of its eyes or moving along with gentle flames dancing atop of melting wax, the artists providing the soundtracks to those experiences are innumerable. Magical moments shouldn't be degraded to a preferential top list. We don’t do top lists here. What we do here at SoundPark is a bit different. Our season closing will encompass some artists that crafted their own magic over the last year. We invited some of our favorites to come by the Park and chat a little about 2013. Along with this, they also provided us a little musical recap with an exclusive mix to keep our feet dancing well after the ball drops.

First up in our little year-end special is an artist that has captured our hearts over 2013 in a tantalizing fashion. Maher Daniel has been playing along some of the industry’s best [Lee Burridge, Sasha, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Josh Wink, Damian Lazarus, and many others] and there is no slowdown in sight. Just recently, we saw the release of a gem that has been getting mega support by the likes of Dixon, Ame, Digweed, Agoria, and Art Department just to name a few. Maher Daniel & Jon Charnis – “Lonely Stars in Open Skies” charms you with a gentle twinkling melody, soothing pads that soar over the top, and a buildup that will surely have your insides aroused with anticipation. We sat down with Maher Daniel to recap some of his own personal highlights of the year as he closes our first season out in style.

Over the course of two decades, Andrew Cole aka Luv*Jam has carved a unique niche as a tastemaker of the highest regard not only with his effort as a selector but as a conservator of vinyl culture.  As a selector, Luv*Jam has graced booths and stages far and wide including Fabric - London, Tresor - Berlin, and Space – Ibiza (which he was a resident of for nearly 12 years) among an otherwise absurd assortment of venues  that span across the world’s finest clubbing and festival institutions.

As a shepherd of vinyl culture, Cole is the proprietor of four vinyl labels that delve into a space where enthusiasts seek and ultimately collect individually numbered/stamped vinyl records featuring unique artwork that sell in limited quantities. These records feature some of the most timeless pieces of music we have come across over any medium and we celebrate these efforts as true labors of love. SoundPark invited Cole to sling together an audio tale that journeys through three decades of Luv*Jam’s secret nippers from the past, present, and future that spans across four hours of music. Luv*Jam - SoundPark (A1)

Based out of a small township in Durban, South Africa called KwaDabeka K, Vicmari illustrates a fascinating touch when it comes to weaving the threads of delicate soundscapes together. What we have is a peaceful take on ambient fused jazz and dub house with dashes of uplifting spoken word that has settled as an important part of the vibe and aesthetic of contemporary South African dance music. You'll be able to hear original Vicmari pieces, special edits, and good ol' Jazz improvisation to take us all home during this audio tale. One of the brightest hand signatures we've received to date on our catalog. Without further adieu...

Adrian Ravelo - SoundPark (A1)

Initially making his debut on one of our favorite efforts Blind Jacks Journey, Istanbul based talent Aleksandir is getting a lot of love for his ability to lay down unquestionably silky records. Surely there is a wispy-smoke like charm to his music. Most notably, he displays a beautifully patient touch on the keys that diffuses into an arrangement of warm sounds and tasteful harmonies. In his debut tale, he explores an impeccable selection of records that all touch on sonic nuances that inspire his palette. Without further ado, Aleksandir lays his debut tale down on our archive.
