Continuing a busy 2013 after Ultramajic's inaugural release "Hot Inside" as well as debuts from the elusive Aden and Creepy Autograph, Jimmy Edgar returns to his own occult-inspired Ultramajic imprint with the Mercurio EP, three tracks of throbbing sampladelia as undeniably robotic as they are irresistibly funky.

Ultramajic has lofty aims, uniting Edgar's twin passions for ritual magick and meditation while focusing on developing new artists and a new personal sound. Having just wrapped up a summer of touring his collaborative JETS project with label partner Travis Stewart aka Machinedrum, Mercurio suggests a restless energy honed by enthusiastic crowd response to the martial beats. The title track "Mercurio" is a flurry of competing crescendos and fractured vocal samples over a bulbous bassline. "Qlinda" is equally celebratory, utilizing microtonal shifts in the stereo field and exuberant sampling before morphing into a half-time ooze. "Ultraviolet" highlights Edgar's special skill with modular synthesis  to craft an electro-tinged jack, machines on the edge of collapse.

With artwork by longtime collaborator Pilar Zeta, Jimmy Edgar continues to play with new age philosophies and esoteric inspirations in the deluxe, hand-crafted packaging for the label's releases.

Edgar will highlight these new tracks as he continues to tour in 2013, including performing as JETS at Decibel Festival and Mutek in Mexico City. Edgar's full remaining tour dates can be seen below:

Matthias Zimmermann momentarily pokes his head out of the fantastic and mysterious world he created for himself to holler at us mortals and present us 3 new versions of tracks taken from his precious self-titled album released last summer on Sound Pellegrino:

“Lia” sees Zimmermann team up with another pop hero who exists out of time and out of current trends: the legendary Jay-Jay Johanson. His ethereal presence combined with Matthias’s organic yet alien production result in the eerie 3D ballad that is “Lia”.

The song was completely reworked by chamber music modernists Kaiser Quartett (the notorious acolytes of Chilly Gonzales on his 2015 album “Chambers”) for a tear-jerking acoustic version which pushes the enchantment even further if that was even possible.

Matthias Zimmermann — Jordan (Chambray Remix)

'Rome' is the new four-track EP from 22-year-old electronic producer Kashii on the recently launched MadTech label. Kashii's style resonates twangs of many current genres including UK bass, house, tech-house and garage. Currently signed to Southern Fried, Kashii is releasing an exclusive EP with MadTech, with remixes from up-and-coming producers South London Ordnance and Lakosa.

'Rome' skips a cutting beat, meshed with intermittent vocals that build, aided by subtle chord changes that climax in a fully charged drop. The bellowing bass beneath warms the chopped stacatto style Kashii punches. Cosmic arpeggio samples shimmer above adding an exciting chaos to the rigid pounding structure.

Kashii's production in 'Make This' reverberates a more tech-house style through his use of nodding samples and syncopated percussion, which gives the track a contagious energy. Chords march below speeding into drop that's reminiscent of 90's dance tracks.

South London Ordnance's rework puts more emphasis on the bass, relaxing the track into a more minimal style. It builds with a calmer intensity adding squawks and hi hats until dropping into a pounding techy bass beat.

Lakosa's remix of 'Make This' ignites the same dancefloor power, Lakosa's production brings a softness to the track using warm chords and swishing samples that give it a hazier feel culminating in a powerful breakdown.

Based in Paris, Sound Pellegrino is the label started by TEKI LATEX and ORGASMIC in 2009. The label focuses on club sounds evolving at the fringe of House, Techno, Bass and un-named half time dance-music hybrids all tied together by a strong hip hop background. The spirit of the label is to bridge gaps between scenes geographically, musically and generation-wise. The catalog is provided by a vast community of like-minded artists from all over the globe, forming a rich and diverse worldwide bond.

Curated by renowned DJs and taste makers Orgasmic and Teki Latex (from pioneer electronic hip hop outfit TTC – Teki also happens to be one of the founders of Institubes), Sound Pellegrino has quickly established itself as one of the labels to reckon with, releasing singles by Zombie Disco Squad, Renaissance Man, Todd Edwards & Surkin, L-Vis 1990, Para One, G.Vump, Bok Bok & Tom Trago, Panteros666, Teeth, Maelstrom (amongst others) and generating interest by A-List DJs from all ends of the dance music spectrum such as Modeselektor, Hudson Mohawke, Boys Noize, Annie Mac, Diplo, A-Trak, Sinden, Pete Tong, Claude Vonstroke, Ivan Smagghe, Laurent Garnier, Chloé, Justin Martin, Agoria, Joakim to name a few.
