Lockdown is about finding your courage after suffering heartbreak and abandonment. The song walks through the emotional paradox of trying to open up again:
"Wishing that someone will come in,
Fearing that someone will get in,"
And ends with the lessons understood as the heart begins to heal.

Unfamiliar Familiarity

A ghosted image is an image that is faded. Similar to doubleexposure in photography. Where two images are combined. You see both images. However, one you almost look right through because it fades into the background. "Ghosted Memory" conveys the idea of doing the same with a negative experience. It could be a heartbreak, personal failing, or an injustice ( real or perceived ) a person may face. In such situations one may find it difficult to ignore what has happened. And nearly impossible to silence the emotions the experience may have stirred up. However one can learn to look past the experience. Although they may find it hard to forget the pain. They can figuratively "ghost the memory" by looking through it and past it. Doing so until the experience and the negative emotions it has stirred up fade into the background. Thus in time, allowing one to move past the experience, let go of negative emotions and heal. At the time I wrote this I was grappling to understand the importance of being able to do this. Which is why initially the song seems to have some angst. While I was trying to move past the experience, I was still unwilling to let go of the pain I felt. After writing this song, however, I was able to better understand how I react to disappointment. Hearing and seeing my thoughts was somewhat therapeutic. Ultimately it helped me realize what I will always need to be willing to do when faced with such experiences... Namely forgive and keep moving forward. Forgive others. Forgive myself. And let the bad memories just fade into the background... Look past it like a ghosted image. Look past it like a "Ghosted Memory"...
