Back again in my happy place, surrounded by old friends and new, I had the time of my absolute life unleashing this clusterfuck of a set. This one spanned a myriad of genres near & dear to my heart: bass-funk, hip hop, house, cosmic disco, 90s rave, sentimental pop music, and a grandaddy throwback festival EDM track as the nostalgic closer for those in the audience who I've had the pleasure of sharing the revolving dancefloor with since 2012.

Dr. Whale | Live at Second Wind 2025

There i am, in the middle of a workout class, and the next  track fades in... Big Bad Mama by Foxy Brown, a 1997 release from Def Jam that samples 'She's a Bad Mama Jama'. I've never heard this funky thumper before and it had to be shared and thus inspired a bit more of a 90s (maybe 80s too?) inspired mix.

Weather Report - Second Wind 2025

Two hours of uncanny pop and eerie synth minimalism from Sheffield pioneers The Human League. 

Formed in Sheffield in 1977, The Human League started as an experimental, post-industrial synth trio. After key members left in 1980, Philip Oakey rebuilt the band with two teenage vocalists, shifting towards the more charismatic (and commercially viable) new wave sound that thrust them into the mainstream. Their 1981 album _Dare_ and the hit “Don’t You Want Me” went on to define early ’80s electronic pop.

Summer in San Francisco can be a tricky thing. You know the quote - where it came from is anybody’s guess - but it’s assertion about our summer temperatures was most likely attributed to our famous foggy phenomena known as June Gloom. This week’s Sounds Worth Sharing is a melancholic mix of mood music inspired by the Fog. A grab bag of selections that channel some of that energy (or lack thereof), oscillating between celebration and contemplation. Consider it a companion for getting through No Sky July & Fogust and a reminder that the fog always clears, even if for a moment (just give it ten more minutes) - Justin
