Soundscapes Radio Africa Edition! Part two

For this episode recorded between Durban, Dublin and London we interview singer, writer, sonic poet, yogi and healer DemiMa and listen to some of our favourite tracks from the African Diaspora, all interspersed with live jams from the London studio.

Our host Fats caught a vibe with DemiMa in her home in Durban, South Africa, where we listened to tracks from her EP Alt. Frqnc and a special piece by her grandfather. She also shared a live exclusive spoken word piece she wrote for International Women’s Day. 

In the second half we have guest host Chuck join us in London and Fats beamed through to us from Dublin where we do a live jam using synths and our imagination. We share music from Africa and artists of the African Diaspora as we cleanse the space with Palo Santo.

Soundscapes Radio ep 6 w/ DemiMa

The latest episode of Soundscapes Radio comes to you from the Masta's Dojo at Kunstraum Studio — a meditative space and exhibition created to launch Intalekt's second instrumental album 'The Masta Returns', including a short film by Honey JD and artworks by The Asian Loner. Soundscapes Radio with Intalekt

For this episode we return to the roots of Soundscapes Radio – the weekly sound art workshops for young people running in collaboration with Kunstraum and Soapbox Youth Centre for the past nine months. This episode is a takeover by three of our regular members, a group of producers, DJs and sound artists – Nanzhen Yang, Matt Feldman and Shima – joined by regular Soundscapes host Fats to jam live and share tracks. While we never plan a theme, one emerges by the end of the show – this time a focus on minimal electronica, imbude with shamanic energy, and the strange back stories and intriguing characters behind some of the rarest viynls.

Soundscapes Radio - Youth Takover Episode

For the latest episode of Soundscapes Radio we get together with Sons of Craft to mark the recent launch of their record label Sounds of Craft. Independently, Kouadio and Ade are creative practitioners working across music, fashion, art and performance. Their collective project Sons of Craft is a place for themselves and their community of artists to come together, merge their creative visions and inhabit a framework for the championing of personal creative discipline and the respect of craftsmanship within everything they do. Sons of Craft creates wide ranging events, products, experiences and services including a collection of of bespoke garments; art direction and design consultancy (including creating the graphic identity of Soundscapes!); hosting a series of themed music events and exhibitions, and most recently their music arm putting out records and conceptual mixes. Sons of Craft join our regular hosts Chuck, Fats and Thomas to talk about the importance of craft and the translation of ideas into realities, to create an experimental music live jam and to share some of the tracks they are listening too right now.
