Slowly but surely, a constellation of young artists have expanded around Ali, Basti, Philipp "Santé". In the night, they share the same decks thanks to the newly created Souvenir Booking entity. During the day, they swap beats and samples in the studio of Tiefschwarz located in Prenzlauer Berg, building up a new creative energy, which is giving birth to the 23rd release of Souvenir on vinyl.Adam Port, Re.You and Rampa, already had their own shines this year on Souvenir. Now, it´s the turn of &ME (Front Room, Keinmusik) and Fischer & Kleber to release a new must-have record permeated with the best groove coming from the German capital city. On the A-side, &ME brilliantly hurts with "Bleed". He punches on the left with an unstoppable drum, weaves on the right with an hypnotic loop, that stirs mental alertness up, barks his anger with a digital "Whouah" going fast and forward and compelling any dancer to incredible footwork. Knocked Out! Robert Fischer & Niklas Kleber had in common an electronic liveact "Discokonzentrat" (High `N´Rising records) and a band "Spurv Laerke" before bringing in their new project, Fischer & Kleber. They set with "Berki" on the flipside the singular but no less enjoyable soundscape of a cathedral under construction. Lightening up with deeply felt and almost religious whispers, the shrilling noises of computer-generated machine-tool, the mechanical and cold precision of a pitched down digital rock-drill, the duo turns "Berki" into a canticle of the new Millennium.

Not unlike the first chapter, Workparty 2 mirrors the status quo within the Keinemusik camp. Featuring Rampa, &ME, David Mayer and Adam Port, it covers all of the crews producing stakeholders, starting off with Adam Port’s “86”.

A track that slowly blows itself up, letting a jolly bassline shimmer in the background, plucking its way through to imply distant memories of Ports classic track "Boogie Bass". However, "86" takes one step further. With its catchy saxophone samples, a swinging vibe and its irresistible build-up it peers towards peaktime much more than Ports 12inch debut.

Following up on 02, Rampa lights up some kind of afterburner to his last and ever startling Keinemusik-single "Work". "Meggy’s Desire" develops itself in a surprisingly minimalistic manner, galloping along in reduced beatpatterns and heading towards a soulful vocal part, which is ought to open up every one's heart. With the whole thing being rounded off with emotive piano-arrangements, it will sure make its way into those setlists that prefer class to the all too trivial. 


The opening of the flipside belongs to David Mayer and another one of his compelling techfunk-monuments. Naming this one “Blank Sheets” is nothing but an understatement, as it’s not blank at all. It actually carries the gloomiest groove we have heard in a while. Whilst his earlier works were breathing a rather subcooled machine room atmosphere, this piece is definitely his hottest iron so far.

As soon as the challenging punch of his first bars appear at the beginning of 04, one could assume, &ME made an arrangement with his B-side partner. "Empire State" also emits a somber, technoid vibe, and its frantic pulse leaves no one cold. In difference to his catchy arranged Keinemusik Milestones "F.I.R." and "One Day", &ME takes on the mantra of the essential groove. In its break, however, he will spank the whole floor's booty with his whole heart and some drumrolls.

And here's a dream come true! Joss Moog is tough to negotiate with and usually refuses to sign anywhere other than his own label. He's one of those artists for whom music isn't about trends, and he's delivered a true bumpy gem for the dancefloor. It's one of those tracks that hasn't left my sets since the end of summer. A secret weapon I'm thrilled to share with all of you starting now.

Paride Saraceni - Jim's Prophecy [NF$001] LO-FI

It was in 2009 when Paride Saraceni envisioned his rework of the Doors' classic 'Light My Fire', a project which never came to life until 2015 when he decided to create a work that would not only translate the classic rock masterpiece into a postmodern dance-floor tune.
'Jim's Prophecy' is however not simply a rework of the Doors' classic hit but a seamless collage of several of their works as well as of a 1970 interview to Morrison himself in which he predicts the future of music, from which the track adopts its title.

It is the format by which these events come to our ears that Saraceni found inspiration from, since not only Morrison predicted the advent of the one-man band surrounded by 'machines and tapes' but it is this statement itself a tape recording in its own right. The conceptual playfulness that this postmodern work is characterised by is given by both its content and its container, since what is being revoked by the means of this remix is both the essence of the band's live sounds and live performance adapted to nowaday rhythms, as well as the way in which these have came together by the very means (tapes and machines) which Morrison spoke of in his interview, this last one as well being evocatively employed in the mix, making of the remixer (and in a way of Morrison himself as well - as he directs the dialogue within the track) the true one-man band in relation to and within the various fragments of time and tape-space assembled into one single recording.
