Adi Shankara emphasizes the importance of devotion for God as a means to spiritual development and to liberation from the cycle of birth and death. The prayer leaves one in no doubt that the renunciation of our egotistical differences and surrender to God makes for salvation. Many scholars hold that this composition encapsulates with both brevity and simplicity the substance of all Vedantic thought found in whatever other works that Adi Shankara wrote.

~Navaratri Sadhana~

Celebrations at Linga Bhairavi ensure that everyone is able to make use of the support that nature offers. For those who wish to connect with Devi, Sadhguru has offered a simple but powerful Navaratri sadhana for all, to experience Devi’s Grace at home. The sadhana is to be practiced on each of the days starting from (2015)October 13 to 21, by doing the following:

-*-Light a lamp for Devi.
-*-Chant a minimum of three cycles of the “Jai Bhairavi Devi” stuthi in front of a photo of Devi, Linga Bhairavi Gudi, Linga Bhairavi Yantra or Avighna Yantra. It is advisable to chant eleven cycles. (One cycle is the recitation of all 33 names of Devi, as listed below).
-*-Make an offering. There are no restrictions on what can be offered.

The sadhana can be done at any time of the day or night and can be done by all. There are no dietary restrictions, though it is preferable to have sattvic food as is customary during the festival. The sadhana can be done along with other traditional celebrations.

Buddha Purnima, or the day of Gautama Buddha’s enlightenment, is an important one in many ways for spiritual seekers. The story of Buddha’s journey is awe-inspiring; his grit and perseverance led him to the ultimate fruits of human existence. Even today, Buddha Purnima is celebrated in many parts of the world and every year at the Isha Yoga Center. This year, Sounds of Isha composed a special song for the occasion and performed it today in the Spanda Hall. Sounds of Isha is Sadhguru's own home grown, anomalous group of 'musicians' - inspired by their deep yearning and sense of gratitude. The group members are full-time volunteers with Isha Foundation, living a life of dedication and austerity; thus, their inspirational songs are usually created after a full day's activity, due to their passion and zest to share a different dimension of the foundation's work.

Their melodies are a fusion of music from different parts of the world - traversing effortlessly and seamlessly across boundaries and cultures. Whilst the music of these songs sooth our minds and the melodies enthrall us, the true potential of the songs is in their capability to instill in us an element of the eternal silence that touches the core of the human being. The performances of Sounds of Isha are set apart to deliver a potent and intoxicating ethereal concoction, transporting those who listen into subtler states of being - becoming the basis for inner exploration.
