As always, it’s a great pleasure to play at Skyline Events and once again this year I was able to do that. I typically play a warmup set which includes quite a lot of organic type tunes, principally because I think the venue and crowd like the complexity of the sound, particularly in late afternoon, early evening before the tempo and energy rises as the main guests appear. This time round I was warming up for Alan Dobson and then headline act Danny Howells was to follow. Its winter so darker earlier and moodier so I had some scope to deviate a little from the norm and lift the energy which the mix reflects, although the BPM hovers around the 118/119 mark. We kicked off with some lovely drum and vocal sounds courtesy of Monkey Safari, before getting both tribal and melodic with “Sunshine Hotel” and then Volen Sentir’s remix of “Everything Nice In The Morning”. I have played this one a couple of times at Skyline and might again soon as I think it works perfectly in that space. From here the energy lifts through “Cerrado” and the start of a sequence of big breakdowns commences as we shift through the gears with “To The Moon”, “Gold Rush” and “Enn” before ending on the lovely vocal track “Gaia”.
