“The Very First Real Magic” is the aptly named first release of Escape Artist’s new imprint 'PSY SECTION'; coming in the form of a various artists affair, brought together by the power of friendship. After years of being sent amazing music by new and old friends from near and afar, the time has come to share this joy with the rest of the world. 

As a label, they will seek to shine a light on psychedelic music of all designs and the first release will focus on the dance variety. It is the label’s hope that the love and friendship that brought this project together will shine through in the music.

Hex Editor’s transcendental breakbeat dreamscape ‘Tuesday’ opens the B side with expert precision. Soaring pads and swimming arpeggios provide the perfect spot for the listener to land after their flight from the previous side. Bloop is the short-lived techno project by Dirk Bittner and Dirk Jan Müller who are both part of the German psychedelic Krautrock band Electric Orange. Three decades later, Delirious Allusion sees the light of day on the new Brussels imprint Pinguin Society. The A-side features both the original and the mix ahead version of Delirious Allusion, which were released only as a testpress in 1997. The flip side offers ‘Robotic Operation’, a previously unreleased track by the duo from ‘98.

We’re very happy to welcome Promising/Youngster to our catalogue with the vibrant “Flux” EP.

Promising/Youngster is one the monikers for Diego Cadierno with previous releases on Analogical Force, Sin Hilo or Nebulae. He made his debut on Factor City with his other alias Cadee with the excellent “Happiness” Ep back in 2021. 

“Flux” is a deliberate step toward the dance floor. Four excellent songs blending fat basses, breaks, dreamy pads and analog and digital instrumentation to create an expanding sonic landscape with elements of Electro, IDM and Braindance. A contemporary funhouse of wild oscillations, dreamy melodies, acid bubbles and intricate breakdowns. Music to dance with your feet and your brain. All an adventure!

The opera mix is quiet and spacious, built from tones rather than beats. The space mix adds drive, with breaks, basslines and touches of acid. The club mix keeps things grounded and direct. Victor’s Hypnotoad mix ties it together in a way that works both at home and in the club.
