Soul Clap’s Charlie aka Charlie Soul Clap preps his UTM debut with an all out edit dream for Roy Davis Jr.’s elusive label.

For fans of Soul Clap and Roy Davis Jr. alike, the second release since Undaground Therapy Muzik’s relaunch will feel at home in their library. The new EP by Charlie Soul Clap comes in the form of a rhythm focused 4 track take — comprised of 2 A’s with 2 B’s that take a deeper focus on the first track on the release – Virgo’s Victory. The world has been closed for long enough, so Charlie and Roy felt it was time to refashion living rooms as dance floors and introduce something you could have a gentle afternoon or late night boogie too. The EP cements Charlie’s solo works as a clear ode to disco and classic house music.

The EP is being released on the 21st May worldwide. For everyone to enjoy. There may be a vinyl press when the record shops are open around the world again, but for now – this will be homed on all your favourite streaming sites, and of course, the UTM Bandcamp.

Charlie stands with two feet firmly planted on top of a mountain named Soul Clap and yet he points further into the sky with a look of mischievous excitement. Somewhere, deep on the horizon, the mystery of his musical journey will unfold. Charlie is devoted to following in the footsteps of those who have paved the way before him and continues to churn out thematic dance music that is routed in tradition but is eclectic, unexpected and contemporary edging into the future. As a principle songwriter for Soul Clap he has worked with artists like George Clinton, Nona Hendryx, Louie Vega, Laid Back, Amp Fiddler, Robert Owens, Sa’D “The Hourchild” Ali, XL Middleton, Midnight Magic, Lee Curtiss, Martin Buttrich, Wolf + Lamb, Nick Monaco, No Regular Play, PillowTalk, Navid Izadi and on and on.

At the beginning of the 90s a new music wave was emerging in Italy. Influenced by stylistic elements and sound expressions arriving from abroad - in particular from those english and american labels – it has created the bases for an innovative sound destined to leave its mark for generations to come. It was a sound close to the Deep House atmospheres coming from Chicago, Detroit and New York. A sound made of powerful basslines, punching drum machines, dreamy melodies and incredibly sensuous vibrations.
Dream House, Italo House, Piano House are names often used to identify this new scene, but it could be simply summed up in one word: "Underground". 
Inspired by an innate sense of freedom and experimentation, a generation of Italian DJs and producers envision the sound of the future. The music becomes a muse, enchanting and unifying. The movement fires up  in the clubs. The record shops act as a sounding board. And the alignment of all the planets generates an invasion of celestial bodies.

"Ciao Italia” wants to be a tribute to the artists that wrote this story. Artists that were forced to use many different aliases that often even themselves have forgotten and certainly less celebrated than their colleagues today.

A rhythmic journey to rediscover what has been, what continues to be and what will be, “Ciao Italia” tells a story that still sounds incredibly current, whose reverberations continue to be the object of veneration among DJs, clubbers and music lovers of new generations. As confirmed by the new productions ideally inspired by the iconic sound of the time, testimony of an Italian avant-garde alive and vivid not only in memories but more than ever in the here and now.
Not only a "musical style", but also a way of approaching reality characterized by enthusiasm, a global vision and a spirit suited to the most eclectic and boundless creativity. 

Born from an idea of Daniele "Shield" Contrini, with the art direction of Stupefacente Studio, the project took shape in a double vinyl format with an insert, signed by the journalist Elia Zupelli, which reconstructs an era through the voices of the protagonists, photographs, interviews, rarities and dazzles from the 
dancefloors. So, while the vinyl slides under the needle, the hope is to be able to grasp the atmosphere and live it again for a few moments, clinging to the indomitable charm of  the "underground" grooves: a mnemonic flow from the past and a driving force for a new course projected into the future.

Franco-Algerian musical nomad Elisa Elisa lands on Heist with her debut EP ‘What about me’ full of heavy drums, thrilling acid lines and her own dreamy vocals  

With a wild fusion of musical roots, Elisa Elisa has found her sound in emotive, percussion driven house. She uses her own vocals to add atmospheric depth to her tracks and with a knack for acid lines and driving chords, her tracks have the type of energy that could keep you going all night long. Her music first popped up on our radar after her releases on Heat Up (topping the charts with her debut release), and He.She.They with the track ‘Girl I got you’, that got rinsed by the Heist crew since its release. Her recent release on Melé’s Club Bad records, Panorama bar gigs and a feature in the book ‘Lady of the House’ about women in electronic music really helped cement her position as a rising voice in modern day dance music. 

The ‘What about me’ EP kicks off with warehouse anthem ‘Lift me up’. Roughed up drums and toms set the pace while Elisa Elisa chants in loopy fashion ‘Our rhythm is moving’. It’s a fitting vocal for this track, that reaches its full energy when it breaks down into ravey stabs, uplifting vocal chops and a nasty acid line. 

The original of ‘You no good to me’ takes a more stripped back approach and sees the artist dive into a rave-tinged drum workout with added vocal chops and a killer acid line. The EP closes off with “Whistle me”; a deep burner with a Midwest-inspired synth progression, and -of course- whistles.   

As a bonus, we’ll be releasing an amazing remix of this EP just before summer by man of the moment Melé. It’s fitting that he was so enthusiastic about this release and chose to remix ‘You no good to me’, since he just released an EP by Elisa Elisa himself on his excellent ‘Club Bad’ imprint. His version is a bubbly electronic affair that has his worldly percussive style all over it. He cleverly chops Elisa Elisa’s vocal and adds layers and layers of tropical bad-assery on a track that grooves like Brazilian carnival and packs a punch like the Liverpool warehouse parties Melé grew up with.  

There’s a great crossover energy in Elisa Elisa’s debut on Heist between all the good things of house music, acid and African rhythms and we’re excited to have her on the label.

Ralph Rodriguez, aka Ralph Session, is a New York City DJ and producer whose blend of New York and Chicago house style has gained support over the years from the likes of Jimpster, Mr. V, Cinthie, Oliver Dollar, Laurent Garnier and many more.

2024 has already been a big year for Ralph seeing him release on a dreamy line up of House labels. Highlights include Local Talk, Freerange with Juliet Mendoza, Quintessentials and now it's time to join the SlothBoogie crew for the Late Night Madness EP.

The EP starts off with Madness… a moody late night burner unveiling this release dedicated to classic house sounds. Deep chords and driving percussion swirl and build into a G-funk breakdown and bubbling synth tones.

You Are Here keeps the twilight vibes going and takes us on a seductive trip with chopped up jazzy loops, crackling drums and hushed vocals. A perfect love letter to the haze of the afters.

Finally on Against The Clock Ralph ratchets up the energy and heads for the peak time with powerful piano stabs and a strutting bassline guaranteed to make you move.
