In 1994 I was a member of a computer scene group named "TRIAD" (of Berlin).
The head of the group had Chinese roots. We talked about music and my first contribution and he wanted something Chinese-sounding to be heard in the song, but it should also sound modern like techno music.
So I decided to start the song with the well-known Chinese music theme (or whatever Europeans think it is ;) ).
That certainly does not do justice to Chinese music culture but both the head and the rest of the group liked it. :)

Im Jahre 1994 war ich kurzzeitig Mitglied von "TRIAD" (bzw. dessen Berliner "Ableger"), einem Zusammenschluß von Künstlern und sonstigen aktiven Mitgliedern der damaligen Computer-Szene.
Da für den Kopf der Gruppe dessen chinesische Herkunft eine wichtige Bedeutung zu haben schien, bat er mich bezüglich meines ersten musikalischen Beitrages darum, daß auch "chinesische" Musikelemente darin enthalten sein mögen. Er sollte aber auch gleichzeitig "modern" klingen, wie z.B. Techno.
Mangels meiner Kenntnisse hinsichtlich Musik chinesischen Ursprungs, entschied ich mich für eine eigene Interpretation des allgemein bekannten "China"-Themas (oder zumindest das, was Europäer dafür halten ;) ).
Meine Interpretation dieses Themas wird der chinesischen Musikkultur ganz sicher nicht gerecht, aber immerhin gefiel der Song sowohl dem Kopf, sowie auch den anderen Mitgliedern der Gruppe. :)

ASIAN JINGLE

It's a tribute to Kraftwerk's "Boing Boom Tschak" (1986) and affectionately meant satirically at the same time. :)
But only the intro (and the pure "Boing Boom Tschak" parts (without any melody or chords) later in the song) relates to Kraftwerk's song. (All the other parts are composed by myself.)
Absolutely all 'sounds' in this song are samples of my own voice.

Bei diesem Werk handelt es sich um eine Hommage an Kraftwerk und insbesondere deren Song "Boing Boom Tschak" (1986) und jenes ist zugleich auch liebevoll satirisch gemeint. :)
Aber ausschliesslich das Intro und die reinen "Boing Boom Tschak"-Parts (also die Parts ohne zusätzliche Töne, wie z.B. Melodie, Harmonien, etc.) beziehen sich auf den Song von Kraftwerk. (Alle anderen Parts habe ich selbst geschrieben.)
Alle "Klänge" sind - ohne Ausnahme - Samples meiner eigenen Stimme.

!! Welcome back to >BULLY< - text (Part II) !!

Wir sprangen auf, nahmen den Kassettenrekorder in Beschuss und liessen ein unsagbar schön klingendes "Bulli" auf Band verewigen mit dem dazugehörigem Hintergrund. SoundVorteX hat keine Sekunde gezögert und nahm, ohne zu murren, die Vorarbeiten (konvertieren, zurechtschneiden usw. der Samples) in die Hand, während HADES und der faule D.J.OSSI (ähem..ich) weiter "DYNABLASTER" spielten. Bald war es geschafft und wir beide (SVX & DJ) komponierten mit Ruhe und Geduld "BULLY-QUEST"! - Es war harte Arbeit aber um IHNEN eine wohlklingende und aussagekräftige Message zu hinterlassen, haben wir keine Mühen gescheut und das nun vollständig gelungene WERK fertiggestellt !

I was inspired to create this style by "The Art Of Noise" (Thank you for your music, Anne, Gary, J.J., Paul and Trevor !).
To get this powerful drum sound, I experimented for a while.
At that point, I had neither a multi effect nor a reverb effect. And no sampling instrument either.

I apologize in advance for the sound quality and everything that seems to need improvement.
For this recording I only had my keyboard, a small drum machine, a walkman, a cassette recorder and a small mixing console at my disposal.

Ungefähr Mitte des Jahres 1989 freute ich mich auf einen Besuch bei meinen Großeltern väterlicherseits.
Mir war bekannt, daß an diesem Tag auch mein Vater zu Besuch kommen würde und so bat ihn bereits vorher am Telefon, daß er seine Mundharmonikas mitbringen möge.
Ich wusste, daß mein Großvater leidenschaftlich gern Geige spielte und auch mein Vater mit seinem Instrument gut umzugehen wusste.
So nahm ich an diesem Tag mein Aufnahme-Equipment zu meinen Großeltern mit, in der Hoffnung, daß wir gemeinsam musizieren würden (was vorher leider noch nie der Fall war) und ich evtl. etwas davon aufzeichnen könnte.
Nachdem ich Beiden von meiner Idee erzählt hatte, war mein Großvater sofort begeistert. Nur mein Vater war noch etwas zögerlich. Aber als mein Großvater seinem Sohn gut zuredete, entschloss auch er sich schliesslich dazu, mitzumachen.

Das Grundthema des Songs stammt aus meinen Kindertagen, habe es aber an jenem Tage kompositorisch erweitert.

Gegen Ende des Jahres dann starb mein Großvater. Ich hatte zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme keine Ahnung davon, wie es gesundheitlich um ihn stand. Er wirkte gesund und hatte offensichtlich viel Freude an unserem gemeinsamen "Projekt".
Für sein Mitwirken und auch, daß er meinen Vater davon überzeugen konnte mitzumachen, bin ich ihm sehr dankbar.
Ich vermisse ihn sehr.

At the beginning of my vocational training, I met two vocational training colleagues who also made music.
So we met up a few times to make music together.
During this time we created two of our own works, of which this is our first.

A bit inspired by an early work of "The Art Of Noise", we created our completely own song.

EVERYBODY WANT TO BE CURED

EVERYBODY WANT TO BE CURED (1990) by SoundVorteX (André C. Kalipke)

My mother passed away in the early hours of 3 February 2025.
After receiving the news, I immediately made my way to my mother and her husband's apartment.
My mother had recently had to rely on crutches to walk around the apartment.
It was a painful sight to see that the crutches were still next to her bed, but she was not there.

That same day, on my way home, I heard the basic idea (melody, harmonies) for the song in my head, but I wasn't able to implement it when I got home because the requirements for being able to make music again weren't yet fulfilled.
However, the song idea inspired me to create the spatial conditions (->small apartment) to reactivate my music equipment and put together a small set, during which there were a lot of hurdles for me to overcome.
Finally, on 16 February, I was able to realize the song that had been stuck in my head for so long. The first part of the song is slightly based on my song "Be Free" (-> Modern Age), because my hope for her is that she is finally free.

What is consoling about my mother's death is the fact that she had not been feeling well for some time before her death and now the suffering has finally come to an end for her and also - that she was able to continue her life for over 30 years after the medical diagnosis of 1992 (-> Song commentary "Guardian Angel" - Modern Age).

Meine Mutter ist in den Morgenstunden des 03.02.2025 verstorben.
Nachdem ich die Nachricht erhielt, fuhr ich sofort zur Wohnung meiner Mutter und ihres Ehemanns.
Meine Mutter war die letzte Zeit beim Gehen innerhalb der Wohnung auf Gehhilfen/Krücken angewiesen.
Es war ein schmerzlicher Anblick zu sehen, daß die Krücken noch immer neben ihrem Bett standen, sie sich aber nicht in ihrem Bett befand.

Noch am gleichen Tag, auf meinem Weg nach Hause, hörte ich die Grundidee (Harmonien, Melodie) für den Song im Geiste, konnte sie aber später, als ich wieder nach Hause kam, noch nicht umsetzen, da die Voraussetzungen, wieder Musik machen können, noch nicht gegeben waren.
Die Songidee beflügelte mich aber, die räumlichen Voraussetzungen (-> kleine Wohnung) zu schaffen, um mein Musik-Equipment wieder zu reaktivieren und ein kleines Set zusammenzustellen. Dabei waren für mich sehr viele Hürden zu überwinden.
Am 16.02. schliesslich konnte ich den Song dann, der so lange in meinem Kopf rumspukte, endlich verwirklichen.
Das erste Thema ist ein wenig an meinen Song "Be Free" (-> Modern Age) angelehnt, da ich für sie hoffe, daß sie nun endlich frei ist.

Tröstend, in Bezug auf den Tod meiner Mutter, sind die Umstände, daß es ihr schon längere Zeit vor ihrem Ableben nicht mehr gut ging und nun das Leiden für sie endlich ein Ende gefunden hat und auch, - daß sie ihr Leben nach der ärztlichen Diagnose im Jahre 1992 (-> Songkommentar "Guardian Angel" - Modern Age) noch über weitere 30 Jahre fortsetzen konnte.

- synthesizers - my favourite of all synths in this world (like moog, oberheim, etc.) : The "SID" (I like the clear sound of the 8580 the most).

Born in 1973 in Berlin (west).
First steps on the piano in 1976.
First own 'band' (together with a school friend) in the early 1980s.
Synth band "Modern Age" since 1992 (until today).
Named as "Soundvortex" ("SVX") since 1993.
