The Checkup is a fine digger of 90s House Music gems and he proves once again all the passion he has for the original, most stomping form of the genre with this 2 track EP, out on French imprint Frappé. Starting the aptly named "Energy" EP is "Wintergarten", which blends soulful vocals and piano loops on a bouncy bassline, for the kind of dancefloor banger the Parisian label is accustomed to releasing. The French-born and Berlin-Based produced then joins forces with singer Cansu Kandemir to deliver the deep and groovy "waited long enough". The smooth voice is supported by 90s' sounding pads and punchy drums and snares. This one will sure get the crowd started on club dancefloors all around the world.
Energy EP is out in digital Format on February 17th!

Justin Joe makes his debut on Phil Weeks' Robsoul imprint, nestling under the label's wing for a slice of restless, shapeshifting house.
'Feeling More Life (Good)’ sees snapping percussion, snares and a slow burning 80’s groove that's full of swagger and confidence.  This is backed by the bumpin’ workout of 'Love On The Run,’ which continues the nostaglic vibes by laying down its glassy keys, rasping claps, funky sax line and wah-wah guitar. 
Flip over and things take a darker twist on 'Right Now', as filtered keys and pressurised horns take shots at the hi-hats and heads down rhythm. Closing jam, Pull Up, round things off with its electrified bass groove and cut up vocal to create another strong dancefloor shuffle.

Justin Joe - Feeling More Life (Good)

The Mekanism is back with more of his forward thinking and super fresh house music, this time on legendary French label Robsoul Recordings and featuring the one and only Mr V.

Releasing on labels such as Moan Recordings, hedZup Records and Whippin' Records, The Mekanism is a high class studio talent with a great understanding of the roots of house and plenty of his own innovative ideas. He combines those to great effect once more here.

This Is My Day is timeless house music with an irresistibly slinky groove. The perfect hi hats and catchy drums are overlaid with Mr V's vocal musings which draw you in deep and add plenty of genuine soul. The chord vamps keep on heating the beats and subtle filters keep things dynamic. This is textbook French house music that also comes as a dub and acapella.

The Mekanism proves why he is one of the new school house tastemakers with this latest standout offering.

Ise Jr. and Phonk D share a long musical history. In the early 2000s they produced as a team, founded the Kollege Schnürschuh Collective and were responsible for numerous productions in the German HipHop scene. Phonk D's past was more 4/4 beat based and Ise Jr. always had a great passion for electronic music. Over time their sound slightly changed, the label Footjob was founded and a great number of sketches were made in that musical direction. Luckily, Phonk D rarely throws anything off his hard drives, which allowed him to fine-tune some of the old jewels like these four tracks. They’ve matured for about 10 years and now finally come to see the strobelight of the club.

NYC’s famed SOUP (Support Our Underground Properly) parties were founded by nightlife pro Chris Love (SOUP, Stuck On Earth) in the mid-90’s, and were designed to bring together dancers who wanted to hear the best in underground house and techno music. Legendary DJs Andy Smith (of Portishead fame), Detroit techno hero Juan Atkins, and NYC house pioneer Baby Hector Romero were some of the first to grace the decks in SOUP's early days, leading into a decade of top-quality House and Techno events . After a short hiatus from 2006-2009, Chris Love restarted the SOUP brand, ultimately teaming up with veteran DJ AB Logic (of the Hoodfellas production duo, and the Smoke City Music label) and forming their Love & Logic DJ/Production project. Known for thick vibes, wild dance floors, and world class DJs, SOUP quickly gained popularity in NYC among people seeking the best in underground music. In addition to playing host to top flight monthly guests like Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, The Dirtybird Crew, and more, SOUP has some of the most talented resident's the USA has to offer in Chris Love & AB Logic ( Love & Logic), Joe Pompeo, Chris Patrick, Jenia Le, and in vocalist Born I Music. After years of dance-floor destruction at various NYC venues, the SOUP crew took a regular residency at the infamous Cielo nightclub where they grace the decks monthly alongside an illustrious list of guest DJ’s. SOUP’s amazing music and crowd, combined with Cielo’s perfect dance music atmosphere and incredible Funktion One sound system, have created what’s with out a doubt one of NYC’s finest House+Techno nights.
