Jamie Lane’s courage to push the boundaries of electronic and contemporary music has been on display for some time. His previous single “Attune” was perhaps the peak of his experimentation thus far, combining elements of future bass and melodic techno, enhanced by his textural vocal chops. Added to Spotify’s “New Music Friday Cratediggers” and featured on EDMTunes, “Attune” set the tone of Jamie’s mission to create a ‘more ambitious, sonically tantalising world’ on his upcoming debut album Pleroma.

“Sanctuary”, the second single off the album, possesses the power that all great songs have, where its melodies and tempo put us in an intuitive state of ‘letting go’. Opening with the ringing of bells and a re-imagining of traditional Eastern sounds, we’re called to pause and find our happy place.

“‘Sanctuary’ is a metaphor for finding peace in life, even if only for brief moments. It’s the process of learning to appreciate them when they happen and remember them in the dark times.”

Jamie continues to find new ways to shift our mind away from reality, with “Sanctuary” the latest cathartic journey for us to indulge.

Gold Coast artist and producer Jamie Lane delivers his highly anticipated debut album Pleroma on Friday, March 25. Lead by hit single “Sanctuary”, this album represents Jamie’s plight to reach purity through art in a materialistic world, showcasing his determination to create something authentic and eccentric that pushes the boundaries of contemporary electronic music.
 
Pleroma is an attempt to contextualise the cursed creative process. In the drive to create something real, art inevitably loses its purity once it has left the imagination and is offered to the world. Its essence is often subjugated by arbitrary standards ‘fit for consumption’, leaving behind a silhouette of its initial state. Pleroma is Jamie’s struggle with this narrative and his attempt to break this cycle.

“I am always reaching towards purity when I create my music, trying to produce something to be admired and embodied,” Jamie says. “This album is a journey of obsession, perfection, individuation and compromise above all else.”

BoomChild is a music collective based in Sydney. Forming through unconventional means, the group of diverse musicians, vocalists, and MC’s met via Instagram through an appreciation of each other’s unique individual styles of music and taste.  

Coming from different regions across NSW, their music is reflective of their environments in which they each grew up; bringing together the urban flavour of Sydney’s inner suburbs, mixing with the soulful breeze of Wollongong’s coastal beaches, and the soothing serenity from The Blue Mountains to create a sound that is truly exciting and refreshing in the Australian music scene.

Luke Gerber, frequent collaborator with Sydney-London artist Ed Wells, has lifted the adrenaline and turned this mid-tempo chorale into a dancefloor filler.
