Once I rebought my trusty RX11, I had a strong yearning to make something 80s and sort of cinematic. Mostly assembled in Ableton with the RX11 and other 80s digital drum samples. The rest is half VST and modular multi-tracking.

What is Love?

This lil track was an exercise in drum programming. Found sounds, sequenced into a complex changing rhythm... and some synth for contrast. I think I want to do more beats like this...

Who Knows...

Ducks’ tails, drakes’ tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,

Busy in the river!

Metal ducks cross an electron pond. Somehow I love this little stomper. It gets even weirder from here folks.

Quack

When I first heard of LPGs, I decided to try and make a track using no VCAs and only filters to remove sound. The result was this dark moody hypnotic groove. Watch your speakers!

VCAless

This was when I finally got an envelope that did the Wasp filter justice. Acidic, bubbly, exciting. Love that squelchy sound...

Alkaline

This slower piece was made during my experiments with the Mutable Instruments “Elements” module. It’s a bit jazzier than I normally go, and I make some mistakes, but somehow it all fits. I don’t know it ambient fits as a genre, but it serves the purpose well.

Blue Steps

This track is a compilation of two pieces. These were the first sketches I made in Ableton Live back in the mid 00s. Not my finest mixing, but I was not as skilled. Let’s just call it “lofi”. 😂

Barbara/Spooky

This little ditty was an exercise in modular drumming and gathering modular samples. All sounds built on my modular synth and performed live. I don't remember making it, so maybe the elves are responsible. :)
