Welcoming two new names to Viper, Synth System & AL/SO join forces for “City Lights” and “Extra”. Synth System, formerly known as High Maintenance, has been an integral part of the drum & bass scene for countless years, recently launching Synth System & straight away being enlisted for an official remix of Sub Focus’ ‘Last Jungle’. AL/SO, a newer name to the scene, works for Dutch label Korsakov Music.

The first of two singles, ‘City Lights’ also features a third collaborator, Eidna, a vocalist and songwriter who has been steadily on the rise in recent times. ‘City Lights’ is an eclectic, busy number with catchy vocals soaring over classic dancefloor sounds. Upbeat and energetic, the track is a perfect example of what to expect from the collaborative effort of Synth System and AL/SO.

The flipside of the release is ‘Extra’, a fun, space-y dancefloor number that is as fast-paced as it is full of adrenaline. Loud and in your face, the drop is the embodiment of end of the night rave energy, lasers flashing in time with the frenzied beat.

A label proud to be consistently releasing new music from new names, Futurebound certainly knows how to spot hidden talent, one of the key factors behind Viper’s success over the years. Be sure to keep an eye out for more hidden gems from the label before the end of 2021!

It began with a low rumble from all degrees of the horizon, and envelopment of portentous sound that seemed to emanate from everywhere and nowhere all at once. From high above, fluctuations in the jetstream whipped the clouds into a frenzy, stretching, swirling, and blending them into a slate of blackest-grey from within which thunder and lightning began to add their voices to the ensuing cacophony. As the roar on the horizon grew, the very air itself seemed to slip and surge around the sonics that cut through it, churning it from stillness into a great gale that nipped with icy jaws at the flesh of any caught within its flow. Then, as though in a perfectly discordant concert with the air above, the ground itself began to shake, roiling in opposite motion as the second wheel of a planetary mill set to grind those upon the surface into dust. From within the fissures that scarred the Earth’s surface poured rivers of magma that made a cruel mockery of the world’s aqueous veins as they brought death to all with which they intersected and poisoned the air with toxic gasses long kept locked beneath the earth. Those who strove yet to live within this hellish world could not but hear a single voice in their minds, chiding them for forgetting what had always been known, dooming them to watch as the ENSUING CATACLYSM consumed the world that had once been their home.

@saintrobbers debut on Neuropunk!

There's no shortage of talented up-and-coming artists emerging from Russia lately, but not often do they have a sound palette as diverse as the Saint Robbers from St. Petersburg. After their great debut release on Timeofnight Recordings in 2020 and their huge bootleg of Phetsta's "Intergalactic", it didn't take long for other labels to take notice of them. Releases on Magnetude's & Task Horizon's label Evolution Chamber and others like Ignescent and Tonrecords followed. After massive appearances on Neuropunk festivals all over the area, and multiple spots on the Neuropunk podcast, it is now finally time for them to also emerge from the NEUROPUNK FORGE with their double single NOTARIC / TORN SHOE!

Alright, let's go over the plan one more time. Our target is NOTARIC, and yes, that's both his last name and his job description. He has been making shady deals with all sorts of criminals since forever and it's time someone taught him a lesson. Not that you and I dislike criminals, we are robbers after all, but his clients really are the worst of the worst. We strike during the night, wearing our trustworthy balaclava and black hoodie combo. I guess we could change into some new shoes soon though, these ones are a bit loose. Anyway, this security system is more involved than our usual targets. First, we've got laser motion sensors, which we'll disable with this malware I got off the dark web. Next up, we have to take care of the security cameras, but that's nothing a bolt cutter can't fix. Then we just need to get into the safe without alerting the guards. Easy!

The following night we go on about the heist exactly as planned. We sneak into the building unnoticed and launch our malware attack with my laptop in the hallway. One defense down, two to go. We continue into the next room and... the cameras are wireless?! I'll never trust the intel from that dark web guy ever again. Luckily, I can reconfigure the laptop to act as a signal jammer for the camera's connection.
Okay, time for the safe. After a few minutes of working on the mechanism, we hear faint footsteps outside. They have noticed us?! I realise the sole of my mate's TORN SHOE is gone, likely still lying
around in the hallway. We quickly open up the safe, grab as much as we can and bolt straight out of the nearest window, barely escaping the guards. As quietly as possible we slink through the streets back into our hideouts. That's the last time I'm taking that guy with me!

Thousands of years ago, everyone was created equal. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the gods have bestowed the gift of magic unto mankind. With this newfound power, humanity managed to solve all of its problems with ease. Famine, water shortages, devastating diseases, everything could now be solved with a spell or two. You might think this sounds like paradise on earth. However, these powers were not distributed equally. Those with the most powerful magic talents rose up the ladder until the inner circle controlling every aspect of life itself consisted of only magic users. On the other hand, we, those without any powers, were shunned. "Useless", "lazy" and "inferior" were just a few of the insults levelled at us.
While the "gifted" had become reliant on magic for everything from cleaning to fighting, we had to build things with our own hands to survive. Through hundreds of years of hard work, we managed to create machines that could do most of the things magic users could. Finally, we were equal! That's not how they saw it though. We still had to live our miserable lives in the undergrounds, living off the scraps of the upper world. Well, no more. Today I'll be launching an ASSAULT on the overground. With my technologically modified, obedient bear cavalry army and my suit of high-tech armor, no one will be able to stop me.
With a loud BANG the earth begins to open up, shaking the foundations of the overworld to their core, as my explosives burst open an entrance for me and my army. To the sound of our synthesized war horns and mechanical growls we descend upon these upper world monsters and do what we must. They try to fight back with their spells, but even their strongest magic can't stop us. If they would just let us through to the palace in peace, none of this would be necessary. I activate the No Survivors mode. Let's just say it does its job. We fight our way through until we reach our destination: The palace's magical council, the root of all evil in this world. As soon as I entered, a rage unlike any other filled me. When I came to my senses a few minutes later, I could not tell you what happened next. Looking at the mangled body parts spread across the hall, I do have a vague idea though. Either way, the path is now clear. Finally, we have restored a fair balance again. And as the new, benevolent leader of this world I'll take care of anyone who dares to disturb it.
