After 4 years of rave parties in Lyon, the Spiral Dance crew just gave birth to the Sous Traitance label.

Throughout its first compilation – a strong selection of up-and-coming producers –, the collective gathered 30 minutes of fiery and experimental breakbeat, considerably influenced by the ‘90s wild energy.

Yet, the 6-track Various goes beyond showcasing an obvious inheritance from the UK early-rave era, perfectly embodied by Antoine 80 and Shcuro contributions. The 12” vinyl also blends genres from the past 3 decades - in the true spirit of the current French underground djing style -, as Jonnnah and Penelope’s Fiance both from the contemporary drum n bass scene codes, while DJ 8.6 drops a mid-2010s industrial downtempo burner, and Yolek even sounds to be inspired by the nasty, raw atmospheres of 2000s hip-hop.

At last, what do we know about time? A quantity, counted in seconds, officially codified around the world via the international System of Units. Always running forward, never coming back. An implacable, invisible, impalpable truth, haunting each one of us, as we all expect it to ring the bell sooner or later. 

Hey, here’s a theory: couldn’t we distort it sometimes, even just a tiny bit? Because Lyon-based label SousTraitance may have finally managed to alter its course through its last compilation, a year and a half after the inaugural one.
“Looking for MTH” V/A successively stretches and contracts the passing time, or at least how we perceive it. Lose yourself in the tempo fluctuations and audio glitches, between the slow, entrancing rites of Jan Loup, Israfil and Sabla, the atmospheric dilatations of Isabassi, Marion Castor and Inhmost, or the high-paced, feverish, raging outbursts of Tera Octe, Loïcc and Tadan.

to be released in limited-edition CD and digital on January 31, 2023: 9 tracks over one hour, that could actually go round the clock or vanish in the blink of an eye, we just can’t tell anymore.

SousTraitance Label, one of the many representatives of Lyon's scene resurfaces from the depths with Masterbep'. The third installment in their compilation series dances on the fringe of the current yet futuristic club scene, echoing the eerie beauty of organic sounds emanating from reptilian, xenomorphic entities. 

Featuring as usual up-and-coming French and international Producers (Trois-Quarts Taxi System, Rxex, Smogo, Anta Doma, Orchid, Homelander, Marmo), this seven-track CD fuses elements of halftime DnB, entrancing psychedelic techno, gravity-defying dub uk, nebulous IDM and razor-sharp breakbeats. Each track feels like it has been meticulously nurtured in amniotic fluid, infused with rhythms carrying an acidic edge - a testament to the profound influence of modern electronic music on the mind.

Here's what happens once you’ve opened a portal to the void: it keeps asking for more! Following their last “Masterbep” release from December 2023 which seemed to lay new psy foundations for the label, SousTraitance is back on July 1th to pledge total allegiance to the no-start-no-end force with Mitry Claye their fourth V/A.

Just in time for the midsummer festival season, the Lyon-based crew delivers another offering of mind-bending, meticulously sound-designed tracks from Alpha Solo, Autogenesis, Cusoon DJ, ICI MTN and RXEX. The spiraling hole goes round and round, sucking in heads and bodies without distinction. The DnB keeps switching between states in the ear to provide a fluid audio experience, only to be redefined by ritualistic Techno thuds and throbs.

After three years of meticulous exploration, refinement, and aesthetic definition, we are finally venturing into the realm of solo releases: we proudly unveil today Anta Doma's Serendipity EP.

Following their standout contribution from 2023 to our “Masterbep” V/A, the French duo delves deep into the mythology of a new world in the making, channeling the wrath of almighty elemental forces. The EP features five rhizomatic tracks that seamlessly intertwine the label’s signature sound with 

Anta Doma’s own identity ; expect slow-burning industrial breaks, high-velocity DnB, and ritualistic ambient textures - all bound by a focus on sonic mutations and razor-sharp sound design.

Somewhere between memory sediment and subconscious drift, “Les matières errantes” marks the second solo expedition of the Sous Traitance timeline, this time led by Catarsis (aka Mathieu Bonnafous).

This new EP from the Parisian producer gathers four elusive productions, each one forged in a different temporal layer across a period of seven years. Oscillating between states, they reveal a raw urge to blur genre borders, where bass-heavy architectures bend into murky techno spirals, breakbeat fragments dissolve into dubstep low-frequency voids, and drum & bass pulses flirt with collapse. There’s no linear path here, only shifting zones and unstable rhythms, moving like tectonic plates beneath the surface of club logic.

A disjointed archive, a driftwork of forms—"Les matières errantes” doesn’t narrate a story so much as it exposes its own erosion. It’s a confrontation of industrial and natural environments for an unique, organic sound, making Catartsis a key figure in the renewal of the French Techno scene.
