The Mind Hackers - Under The Yoke / Implode

Looks like all the storm is waving down recently and the rave times feel closer than ever...  so it's perfect timing to unleash the spanish rising star G.P.M with his first musical release ever!! 

Straight from Málaga (Spain), the young and talented producer has been around on the dancefloor attending loads of events and supporting the dnb scene in most of the aspects apart from creating the music itself; that was the moment to decide to dive into the drum & bass sound. 

The spark needed to download music making software appeared. He started to try and lay down some ideas. He quickly stepped into a couple electronic music schools to power up the knowledge curve then jumped into private mentoring by our sound guy Kursiva who has been supporting him from the very first moment. 

G.P.M has been working hard on the studio... 

With only 11 months of production experience he has just landed at South Yard’s headquarters with two tracks that caught our attention immediately because of their tightness and fresh sound.

Every Time is a track that hooked us from the first moment.  Reminding the Benny Page 2010’s vibes with those catchy and sweet Jamaican vocal bits twisted with 2021’s deep & gnarly basslines creating an old to the new combination that felt very refreshing at its first listen. 

The second song of the release is called Rolling Up and is a pure banger for the dance!! This track is a perfect example of the “less is more” fact and we love that!

Big amount of sub frequencies alongside the continuous resonant bass will hit your body. The straight 2-step drum pattern will get you jumping into the loop. This dj-friendly tune is the perfect pair for the main track and we are more than excited to drop this one on a big rig for all the massive & crew!

Since South Yard started as a music label in 2015, we have come a long way. We remember when we started, everything was new and exciting. We didn’t know what the future held, but we were eager to find out. And here we are, years later, with a playlist that represents the best of our early days. A Kursiva & Karlixx production joined by the vocals of Ken Boothe in a reggae key. Cover of the famous track Ain’t no Sunshine by Bill Withers in 1971. This is our first hybrid between reggae and jungle where 160 bpm's rules the riddim.

In this track, Karlixx and Kursiva are creating a perfect mix between a riddim with a warm digital sound and a lighthearted and elegant melody that we can listen at the intro. The track drops with a vibrant jungle 160 break and a smashing bassline that makes up the essence of the riddim which alongside with the sweet Boothe voice makes the track a perfect combination of styles even for listen at home or for dance it at the dancefloor.

Was the year 1978 when the jamaican duo Althea & Donna recorded the album “Uptown Top Ranking” where was included the track "No more Fighting", track that reached the top in UK.
Now, Mooncat & Karlixx join his forces again to create their version of the tune "No More Fighting" using the winds section so characteristic in this tune, dubbing the sweet voices and packing all with a massive bassline. 
This remix renamed as "We Want no More" is going to smash the dancefloor.

South Yard is back again with a free tune called "Echo Minott - Fire Ago Bun (Karlixx & Dubtime Remix)" produced thanks to the collaboration of the New Yorker label Bent Back Records.

Echo Minott is one of the top references in the 90' digital reggae/dancehall scene whose tunes are smashing dancehalls since about 30 years around the globe and even nowadays keep releasing massive tunes as the original version of this remix that you can check in the link below.

In the remix, Karlixx & Dubtime rise the bpm's until 175 and compose a fully new riddim where predominates the bassline drawing a dialogue between diferent kinds of basses, the melodic elements as winds, skanks, bubbles or muted guitars and a wicked work in the vocal edition.

Nowadays, social distancing is getting strong in the people's subconscious and this could trigger a new digital era, promoting telecommuting, delivery, isolation...
But we can’t forgive who we are. Human beings that need love and to be loved by each other and ourselves, real connections are essential to experience true happiness.
"Real connections" is Mooncat's new work through which he invites us to meditate about it, curating a single with a digital and modern sound, aggressive as well as calm, where the drums and bass beat us encouraging us to fight and overcome our fears while samples and vocal shots lead us to a Reggae / Dub atmosphere that connects us with our essence.
