The heart of Southern Union is critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Lotte Mullan (“Exquisite” Guardian/ “Say hi to Suffolk’s Joni Mitchell’ Q /“A young Loretta Lynn” The Telegraph) and guitar player Simon Johnson (Lana Del Rey, James Morrison, Dire Straights)
Fresh off a trip to Nashville Southern Union were out there playing with Grammy award winning songwriter James House and rubbing shoulders with country stars at the legendary Ryman auditorium. Lead singer Lotte Mullan also recorded an album with Grammy nominated Band of Horses which is due for release Autumn 2014. A blog she was writing about the music business has since been commissioned for a film by Elton John’s Rocket Pictures. 
Southern Union were lucky enough to have four of their songs used on Ridley Scott’s short film ‘Kismet diner’ which won first prize at Manhattan short film festival last year.
The key to Southern Union is they are completely in love with the Great American songbook of which country music plays such a large part – these songs are steeped in our bones and can move us to tears, laughter or one big party.
