La musique des Chercheurs d'or se décore de toutes les Amériques. Le country-folk vigoureux des débuts se teinte peu à peu des autres musiques qui accompagnent les milliers de kilomètres passés sur la route : bluegrass, rock, jazz, psychédélisme, pop grandiose. C’est avec le ton franc d’un joual dégêné que les textes se déploient, traçant un voyage incessant au cœur du quotidien. Ce sont des airs appliqués, cousus à la main dirait-on, chantés avec force pour tout surprendre, tout changer, tout trouver. Une musique intemporelle, à cheval sur les frontières.

Town Mountain (Robert Greer on vocals & guitar, Jesse Langlais on banjo & vocals, Bobby Britt on fiddle, Phil Barker on mandolin & vocals, and Nick DiSebastian* on bass) made their way to the little south-central Louisiana town of Breaux Bridge, where they recorded their most cohesive, most satisfying album to date at Powell’s studio, The Cypress House. Adam Chaffins* plays bass in the touring outfit.

Southern Crescent is full of variety from the boogie-woogie piano of Jerry Lee Lewis that inspired the delightful (and danceable) "Coming Back to You," to Greer's cleverly penned and fast-paced "Tick on a Dog," which offers a taste of another major bluegrass influence, Jimmy Martin. Barker, Langlais and Greer the chief writers in the band and the group members' palpable chemistry (and individual artistry) are displayed throughout such instantly memorable tracks as "Wildbird," and "I Miss the Night."

The Horologist's cat was pensively striding back and forth in the window above a well traveled through-way in the sleepy pre-dawn hours. It is was a dank New Orleans morning. André woke with a hangover, and two days worth of stubble. His watch repair business was failing, but he would open it again today...albeit later than usual. It was later every day, but it was all he knew for the last 18 years.

Bauver had been with André 16 of those years; he was a rust colored tabby with dirty ivory accents. "Cats are never owned" André was fond of saying that, "we tolerate each other". Bauver was agitated by the noise below. The noise that would alter the course of André's life...
