However, all good things must progress and change, which is why this long-awaited album project will be the perfect way to temporarily pause the Bushbaby alias, with Vincent Vaguer rising from the ashes to carry the sound forward into 2022.

Since the inception of Southpoint, there has always been a sense of excitement around the next drop. This time around, however, we celebrate the extensive, eclectic and expressive catalogue of the Brighton-based imprint with our favourite release picks over the past five years.

Over the last five years, Southpoint as both a label project and a social collective has become seen as one of the south's true shining lights in the realms of underground dance music. 

The first half-decade of activity has seen the team reach some incredible heights, from international tours and festival shows to number one releases and groundbreaking sonic innovation within the production line. This Is Southpoint is our best way of celebrating what is now an extensive catalogue, featuring over 170 individual releases and exploring dance music in a way that has never before been done. 

This project sees the team undergo somewhat of a "Greatest Hits" approach, but not focussing entirely on sales figures or marketing information, but more on the sonic variation that has built Southpoint's catalogue into one of the broadest in the country.

For us, there is no doubting that garage music has returned to its rightful place as the sound of the UK summertime. This latest collaboration between two outstanding artists is a perfect example of why, as Movement and Rio link up for a sunshine-fuelled singalong in 'Make A Move'. 

This fantastic new single boasts everything a garage fan is looking for, from Rio's super-catchy vocal lines to Movement's nostalgia-inducing production style, fusing subtle bass drops with sweeping synth action and crunchy drums all over the shop.

Following on from a couple of very enjoyable releases under his previous alias, we are very excited to be giving the official debut release to Gru Var's shiny new namesake, DJ Jackum. 

With this new direction, Jackum is driving down a much more old-school garage sound, giving us a juicy introduction by the name of 'Higher'. This one is all about the rhythms and subtle use of melodic switches as we hear an unpredictable array of garage goodness, introducing a fabulous new alias in style. 

This is just the beginning of the DJ Jackum sound and we are very happy for him to be pushing the movement under the Southpoint banner.

Following on from a fabulous solo debut last month, Daze Prism is back at it again with another masterfully designed original, this time taking the title 'Check'. 

Over the many years of working together, we have Daze Prism express his creativity through so many different genre mediums, with this latest original fusing garage and breaksy themes with supreme precision, topped up with delicate melodic twists and warm sub-lines below. 

The consistency with which Daze unearths new territory is quite remarkable, which is why we are thrilled to be adding this one to the ever-expanding Southpoint catalogue.

It's been a hot minute since we were last joined at the reigns by Mofaux, who since joining the Southpoint team has had a much tighter focus on the visual side of the label's output. 

However, there's only so long you can keep a sound smith at bay as he returns here with a fantastic new single by the name of 'Lights Out'. This one sees Mofaux explore the middle ground between bass and tech, combining siren-like synths with delicately designed drum drips with an incredible final result. 

It's a thrill to see Mofaux back at it again and we can assure you you'll be seeing him back under the Southpoint banner soon enough.

Bushbaby - Take Control

Since joining the Southpoint collective, Brighton-based Drax has emerged as one of the most exciting up-and-coming producers within the new era grime scene. His fusion of dark, melodic structure and vibrant eskimo-inspired instrumentation has developed into a truly unique phenomenon.

The title track ‘Frostie’ launches the EP right from the off-start with its rapid eskimo melodies and impactful drum progressions. The same can be said for ‘Leave’ which continuously develops its highly energetic percussive elements into an unorthodox 4x4 creation. Rounding off the EP, we have ‘Locked’ which incorporates a darker vibe with a much slower drum pattern, but with more of a moody melodic structure cohesively holding the track together.

On remix duty, we have two members of the Southpoint family making their return. Beanzo emerges with his recreation of ‘Frostie’ alongside JFO who gets to rebuild ‘Leave’, both of which are equal to the originals in terms of quality.

Since launching the label in 2015, Bushbaby is without a doubt one of the finest producers to have graced the Southpoint stage, and this latest single 'Woman's Touch' is a testament to this.

We are introduced to a high energy drum burst to kick us off, chased up with some slick vocal slicing in classic UKG style, cascading towards a sub heavy switch up, lifted by more smooth vocal processing and subtle chord progressions. This is the perfect blend of old school and new school garage flavours and is just right for turning the dance in an entirely different direction.
