The extensive and vivid musical palette of Blood Groove & Kikis is fully revealed on "Wonderland", their thrilling debut artist album. Over the last few years, the acclaimed Latvian duo have received global recognition for their work — ranging from peak-hour progressive trance to deep house — from the industry's leading producers and DJ's. You can now typically hear their latest tracks on the world's leading radio programs. In spite of this success, they continue to write visionary tracks, refusing to compromise their intelligent, deeply emotive, and exceedingly "musical" brand of electronica.

The listener needs to look no further than the album's opener, "Communication", to appreciate the broad range of sounds and genres that Blood Groove & Kikis continue to infuse into their work. The downtempo, world-music-inspired "Communication" intensely crescendoes, but never fully resolves, as if to fairly suggest that the "catharsis" is still to come. The second track in the album, "Velvet", is an homage to the "classic" melodic progressive house sound, for which Silk is most known. Blood Groove & Kikis offer their own stamp on this style, with additional lead layers and numerous side melodies. The lead chords of "Sweet Harmony" and "Chordplay" are rapturous; these cuts are followed by one of the album's standout tracks, "Sunlight", which perhaps best exemplifies the uplifting spirit of Blood Groove & Kikis's work.

The album pivots slightly on "Raindrops", which showcases the duo's deeper side, on which they have also built an international reputation. A sexy, late-night groove and funky guitar riff make this cut especially memorable. The title cut, "Wonderland", is presented next, featuring an almost overwhelmingly soulful and moving vocal by Richard J Aarden. The album's first single, "Free Like A Bird", is next in line, featuring first-time Silk contributor Victoria Ray; her heavenly voice perfectly suits the floating-on-air quality of Blood Groove & Kikis's instrumental.

The final quarter of the album features more exciting collaborations. Indonesian phenom LTN joins forces with Blood Groove & Kikis on "Both", which is also the subject of our most recent remix contest. Another renowned artist, Matt Fax, provides support on "Departure", the album's penultimate track. Both of these collaborations showcase the duo's more trance-influenced side and feature powerful lead themes, coupled with dancefloor-friendly grooves. Last but not least, Richard J Aarden makes his second vocal contribution on the ebullient "Afloat". The title alone is perhaps the most accurate one-word description of the listener's mood throughout the "Wonderland" journey. The album, as a whole, is a remarkable artistic achievement by Blood Groove & Kikis, master manipulators of mood and melody.

Just over 1 year ago, Silk Royal launched "Nothing Out Here", the debut artist album by Canadian phenom Nigel Good. Supported by a variety of leading international artists and reaching #1 overall on Beatport, the release proved to be an unforgettable experience for our imprint. The title cut from Nigel's acclaimed album has now been gloriously remixed by two esteemed electronic music veterans in their own right: Silence Groove (Poland) and Embliss (Netherlands).

Silence Groove, perhaps best known for his contributions to drum & bass, is a recent label recruit, having remixed Schodt's "Darkness Into Light". His take begins on firm footing with a strong progressive house groove, followed by the very welcome arrival of the main theme from the original mix. Silence Groove then backs these themes with a reworked chord progression, as well as a variety of fluttering and ethereal side melodies. However, the highlight of his remix does not occur until the break, when the groove suddenly shifts to a breathtaking progressive breaks interlude. The chords are again reworked in this section, to euphoric effect.

Embliss has been a dear friend of our imprint since our earliest days, so it's with special joy that we present his remix of "Nothing Out Here", featured already (in mixed form) on our recent "Only Silk 03" compilation. As the track commences, fans of the Dutch virtuoso will immediately recognize the beautifully mixed, full-bodied bassline, which immediately establishes his take in deep terrain. A top layer to the bass is then added, while a variety of atmospheric flourishes coalesce with stunning piano themes. Poignant synths and heavenly vocal stabs emerge near the climactic main break, which teases the full theme from the original mix. As the drop cathartically re-centers the track in cavernous territory, the listener can only conclude that Embliss' latest production is another masterclass effort from a unique voice in electronic music.

Few label newcomers have crafted a sound that so comfortably fits into the musical fabric of our imprint as rising talent Veeshy. His gorgeous soundscapes showcase deep, romantic textures and crystalline melodies, which evoke a state of reverie, if not catharsis, in the listener. We are thrilled to showcase four new cuts from the Australian composer, two of which were recently featured on our Silk Music Showcase 06 compilation.

Veeshy's EP kicks off with "Stimulate The Stars," which centers on an array of ethereal vocal stabs and profoundly lush and sensual pads. At the quarter turn, arpeggiated chords mesmerize the listener, soon followed by an equally entrancing new theme in the main breakdown. The return of the sensual bassline groove in the final stage of the song's arrangement is simply blissful.

The rapturous "Aural Ambience" introduces Veeshy signatures at every turn: a breathtaking vocal sample punctuates exceedingly deep pads and, of course, hypnotizing and mellifluous arpeggiated melodies carry the lead. The breakdown offers a meditative moment, in which the symphony of melodic sounds overtakes the listener and purges any feelings of anxiety or self-doubt.

In the deeply soothing "Evening Aesthetics," a cavernous bassline and celestial melody lines cast a dreamlike spell upon the listener. The romantic and soulful essence of this nocturnal ode further reveals itself throughout the arrangement, as angelic vocal stabs and ecstatic new melodies continue to emerge.

Veeshy's "2am" is a fitting closing track to his EP. Of all four songs on the release — a veritable journey through nocturnal soundscapes — this one proves to be the most dreamlike and evocative. A chilled groove is joined by a seductive vocal sample and mystical pads, as well as an entrancing lead melodic motif. The patient crescendo of the arrangement ultimately leads to a slightly more uptempo closing groove, in which the moody pads coalesce beautifully with the hypnotic melody lines.

It's always a pleasure to work with artists that have a clear vision of what their sound is and are keen to maintain and upgrade the quality of their productions with each release. Such is the case of Dutch melody man Vince Forwards, who returns with an epic progressive choon after a brief immersion into other styles, namely deep and ambient.
On 'Falling Stars' , a collaborative effort with Essex native Sunset Moments, the duo unleash an array of atmospheric wooshes and layers that will have the listener captivated from the very first beat. It's clear that Vince's influences from other genres have helped them create a smooth and calm, almost an esoteric, pensive piece that's truly a testimony to the dreamy quality of melodic progressive as a genre.
