SSB Guest Mix #058 - Quadrat Beat

For our 59th guest mix episode, we have a session from Álvaro Olivo, aka OlivoBreaks from Cañaveral de León, a village in the mountains of Huelva, where he developed a deep passion for breakbeat at the age of 12. Over time, his love for the genre grew, and he began taking his first steps in music in December 2022.

He is greatly influenced by the sounds of Guau, Pavane, Ruler, Bowser, Yo Speed, Kaak, Overpeak, FM-3, and Orebeat, with many of his sets reflecting these inspirations.

Today, Álvaro's sets are full of energy, featuring numerous tracks from labels such as 83, Elektroshok Records, Distortion Records, and Banana Club, among many others.

SSB Guest Mix #066 - Terrie Kynd

This is a special week! We're throwing a party next Saturday, and what better way to get ready than with an extra special 72nd SSB guest mix from TAKOMO

Takomo is the duo formed by two Finnish music enthusiasts, Pekka Kokkonen and Otto Andelin.

Initially influenced by dark drum’n’bass, Takomo has smoothly transitioned from drum’n’bass to techno and dubstep. However, their most remarkable work is in their breaks productions. The duo has released music on well-known labels like Botchit Breaks, Fusetrax, and Trans:verse Records, and they have been part of the Audiogore project with their colleagues from southern Spain.

In addition to the breakbeat scene, they have contributed their work to many independent films, video game music, and soundtracks related to digital art. They pay particular attention to detail in their work, which can sometimes be slow due to the rich and intricate elements that adorn their musical landscapes. Their regular shows with the Bass Heroes team on Breaks FM were widely recognized.

Their technique behind the decks is as versatile as their production, easily navigating through the atmospheric breakbeat sounds they are known for, to dubstep and electro, with indirect touches of techno house and drum’n’bass, using the name Trisector for the latter.

They receive unconditional support from prominent artists such as Annie Nightingale, Tayo, Sonz of Mecha, Hoffman, LBJ, ElSid, Stormtrooperz, Influenza, and Cereal Killaz.

Here we go with our 76th guest mix series. Luciano Egea Martínez, born in Almodóvar del Río on August 15, 1978, is a prominent DJ known in the music world as DJ Luci. His musical career began at the Adans nightclub, where he laid the foundations for his trajectory in the music world. He later joined the Evoluxion Córdoba DJ collective at the Bahía nightclub, which allowed him to expand his influence and style. Throughout his career, he has performed at important venues in the music scene, including the Venya Hall and the KGB nightclub in Seville, as well as various venues in the province of Córdoba. His ability to connect with the audience and his focus on melodic retro breakbeat music have made him a reference in the electronic music scene. After a period away from the music world, DJ Luci has returned with renewed energy and passion, ready to resume what he loves most: making the audience vibrate on nights with his unmistakable style.

Check out our 77th Guest Mix Series. Curro Fernández, aka Shenko, is a DJ from Seville now based in Madrid. His arrival on the capital’s bass scene has been short but intense. A former member of the respected 40Hz Club collective and now part of SouthWay Madrid, Shenko has shared lineups with key players in the scene—both national and international—like BSN Posse, Ivy Lab, Colombo, and Amit, among others.

His sets are known for their high energy and dynamism, guaranteed to keep you dancing all night long.

B-Phreak is one of Germany’s most recognized names in the breaks and bass music scene. With over 26 years behind the decks, his sound fuses breaks, bass, house, funk, and hip-hop into explosive, groove-filled DJ sets. His musical journey is rooted in diverse influences—ranging from hip-hop and punk to techno and electro—and even includes a stint as a rock band singer in the early ’90s.

He spent seven years working in a vinyl/CD shop, perfecting his mixing skills and deepening his knowledge of music across genres. In 1999, he launched his own event series, Sub-Funk, dedicated to “urban music for open-minded people” and embracing a fusion of styles.

B-Phreak was among the first German producers to spread the country’s breaks sound internationally, releasing music on respected labels like Hot Cakes, Punks!, Against the Grain, Toast & Jam, Ravesta, and many more. His countless mashups and re-rubs give his DJ sets a unique, exclusive edge.

In 2021, his debut album Sick Mode (Toast & Jam Records) showcased his wide-reaching style—blending breaks, bass, bass-house, house, hip-hop, and funk—and gained strong support from global heavyweights including Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, and The Freestylers. He has played clubs and festivals around the world, appeared on major compilations, and even contributed music to Sony PlayStation’s Wipeout Pulse.

Today, B-Phreak continues to push boundaries in production and performance, standing as one of Germany’s most prominent ambassadors of breaks and bass music worldwide.

From Córdoba, Spain, Obscure Sound has established itself in just three years as one of the most solid and distinctive names in the breakbeat scene. From Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, and Global Gathering to tours across Europe, Russia, the USA, and Australia, he built a global reputation as both DJ and producer — collecting an international DJ award on stage at Fabric, and live broadcasts on BBC Radio 1. After moving to New Zealand, shows at Rhythm & Vines and a residency at Wellington’s iconic Sandwiches nightclub, Hexadecimal went into hibernation.
In 2020, he returned through live streaming on Twitch, building a global community of music lovers with his brand Global Beats Festival. Check out our 84th Guest Mix. Prato (born Paul Prato) has almoast 3 decades behind the decks, the longest-running US breakbeat weekly stream, and an ever-increasing musical output. Prato’s catalog goes back to 2007 but has most recently released on Dirty Kitchen Rave, 83, Close Your Eyes, Distortion, Electrobreakz, Wildfire, Slap It, Diesel Recordings, Toast & Jam and more.

Prato has had a weekly 2-hour streaming DJ residency every Wednesday night since 2005. Originally Frosted Breaks on NSB Radio, he moved over to twitch in 20s where he currently plays as part of Wednesday night Frosted Breaks lineup.

With releases on top labels like ELEKTROSHOK and RAVEART RECORDS, SUNSHA has gained recognition far beyond his home country. His tracks are supported by international heavyweights such as RASCO, DESTROYERS, BUBU, KEITH MACKENZIE, HANKOOK, PERFEKT COMBO, LADY WAKS, VADIM SHANTOR, UNDER THIS, and many more.

In 2009, SUNSHA joined the legendary STANDARD label founded by AFGHAN HEADSPIN, marking a new milestone in his career.

As one of the founders of Breaks Step, a local event series dedicated to breaks and bass music, he has helped shape the underground sound of Estonia — blending breaks, drum & bass, and pure rave energy.

HatStandy is a breakbeat and electro artist, producer, and vocalist from Bournemouth, UK. Starting out in the late ’90s performing live with hardware, he later honed his production skills at Point Blank College in London. Since 2017, he’s released his distinctive fusion of breaks and prog trance through his label Ghost Fat Productions, alongside releases on major breaks labels.

His tracks have gained support from BBC Introducing, Lady Waks, and artists including DJ Jan B, Mr No Hands, and Prato, with plays at Raveart Festival, Boomtown, and across global radio. Known for blending powerful breaks with his own vocals and offbeat lyrical ideas, HatStandy stands out for originality and fearless experimentation — always pushing to inspire through bold, boundary-breaking sound.

Saturn DJ began his journey in 1995 and became a key name in the Andalusian breakbeat scene, releasing over 30 tracks and remixes on labels like Reflex Musik, Tum Tum Pak, Zerous & Ones, and Duplate Records. In 2003, he made history with Technologicall, the first breakbeat album released in Andalucía.

Today, his music continues to reach new generations worldwide, with “Remember” still among his most-played tracks. He performs across Andalucía and Extremadura, delivering energetic breakbeat sets packed with variety and exclusive originals.

After appearing in the Break Nation documentary in 2023, Saturn DJ now returns with his new single “Go Past”, dropping December 12th, 2025 on Plastic Records, blending 2000s Retro vibes with a fresh, modern sound.
