Blanket Apology ‘... an eclectic mix of blues, classics and originals...’ so says the tag line on a poster promoting a recent gig.

The band was formed in October 2008 after the members collaborated to perform a short set at a tribute concert in Southport in memory of musician, writer, poet and actor Dave Hockley. Orchestrated by Mick Cooper, Dave’s friends, colleagues and acquaintances performed in a show and entertained the audience with the man’s music, songs and poetry.

Taking their name from one of Dave’s classic compositions the main purpose of Blanket Apology is to perform and promote the songs and music written and performed by Dave and Mick for many years, but they are more than that. Their live shows contain a wide range of original acoustic and electric songs and covers varying from crafted folk through to stomping blues and smouldering ballads.

Mick sums up his relationship with Dave with the following quote from www.davehockley.com

“Perhaps Dave was fortunate to meet someone who really wanted to record and perform the songs which he often seemed happier to create, finish and forget. Perhaps he was unfortunate that it was not someone who had quite the ability to do justice to the wonderful lyrics and deceptively catchy melodies so that the songs could reach the mass audience they deserve. But I did my best, and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
