Being a child of 60's Pop... raised on down home Soul and the Sound of Motown; then coming of age in the early to mid 70's, during the profound period of Black Exploitation films..it's no wonder that Sovereign1Groove would be so heavily influence by the musical genre of that era.

Taking in account, the myriad of independent black films that hit the big screen during the 70's; which almost all featured great musical film scores by such composers as: Isaac Hayes, Willie Hutch, Curtis Mayfield, Quincy Jones ...just to name a few. 

The by gone sound tracks produced by these creative musical geniuses, captured a moment in time, that resonated with "people of color" and worked in tandem with the urban film narratives, cementing images in our minds and influencing how we dressed, spoke and even danced.

Sovereign1Groove now pays homage to that period of time...with
his 3rd EP release: "Manny's On the Down low (Up In Harlem)"..featuring songs that will take you back...when there was "hard times, cash was low...but the music was "solid" and groove was "in the pocket" and sounding good…right on!

Sovereign1Groove is a Electronic Smooth Jazz Artist, Composer & Producer..based out of Dayton, Ohio .
Sovereign1Groove has worked in the music industry for over thirty years as songwriter, producer and arranger with various artists and bands from New York City, Dayton, Ohio to the West coast.

For the past 10 years, he has been a staff producer and writer at Windswept Orchestra Group; working with former Motown record producer/vocal arranger and writer…Troy Laws. He now breaks out with his own brand of hip sound…that defines his musical signature and is uniquely his own. With intense hot rhythms…his songs are laced with smooth horns & silky string arrangements; backed by funky cool jazzy back beats… with each one fitting nicely into a musical pocket.

His debut EP “On The Groove Train (Tonight)” was released on Anchalen Int'l. Records in Los Angeles,Ca. His second EP Release: "Gabby's Moon Dance"..follows the same formula for success. Recorded in historic "Dayton, Ohio" and released Oct 2019. It features "hot" tracks and smooth sounds..just like his debut release...doing it the only way he knows how....cool!  Now for the new year 2020...Sovereign1Groove has released a third new EP and along with two new singles.
