Next up on Unmasked Discussion is Georgian Dj and producer Downwell.

He has released on Spanish Oraculo Records and contributed to several VA for SCTR, Substantiv, Hex Recordings and Industrias Mekanikas.
His latest work is “Oppression Index” out on Sarin’s X-IMG label and is born out of the artist’s observation of the political situation in Georgia and the global issues affecting the world.

His project focuses mainly on live performances, with a style that brings in elements of EBM, Post-punk and Industrial Techno.

Abaddon Podcast 177 X Daniel Myer

"MALA HERBA" is a solo project of sound artist and queer music activist Zosia Hołubowska. Based on traditional music, magic, and demonology of Eastern Europe, Mala Herba's performances are sonic rituals. The music draws from darkwave and minimal synth wave but sometimes the melody cracks, the voice becomes a magic spell and the song transforms into a noise soundscape. Polyrhythmic pulsations are stacked on top layers of harsh noise and processed archival samples and then arpeggiated bass kicks in again and the music oscillates between haunted italo-disco and EBM. After being featured on compilations by labels such as DKA, Exiles and Total Solidarity by Oramics, Mala Herba released their debut LP "Demonologia" on [aufnahme+wiedergabe] in January 2021, followed by a digital EP "Omnia Vanitas" with two remixes and two covers on the same label.

Mina Lord is producing electronic music since 2017 after being a drummer in grunge, punk and metal bands. Utilized a whole spectrum of music expression in her own productions she creates whole worlds and atmospheres for the audience to dive in to. A deep interest in the interaction of visuals, space and sound, results in linking these elements together right at the foundation of a project. In December 2019 she had the debut event of her own music and art collective The Twelve Prophets, where she invites and collaborates with other artists to explore the link between music, visuals, technology and space.

WELSH BEEF guest mix for TECHNOIR 75 22/11/2022

As a passionate raver and longtime electronic music enthusiast, @zikade-x only stepped behind the decks as a way to keep her mind sane during covid lockdown. With club doors closed, official gigs seemed a thought of the distant future, and zikade's very personal and emotional approach to DJing led her to quickly develop her own favourite sound. Inspired by her love for hard kicks and gloomy melodies, zikade travels between dark italo, electro, or acid, with occasional sparks of new beat, EBM, and techno appearing. Her sets always strive to be connected less by genre than by atmosphere -- dark but groovy, sexy but melancholic.
Having lived in Bremen for most of her adult life, zikade prepared a special vinyl only set for her first gig at Bremen’s MS Treue in October 2022. This mix is the recording of that special night.
zikade is part of the vinyl only b2b projects DJ Frottée and Hypnotist, alongside DJ BONEY S. She is a resident for the queer collective SLIME.

Udo Wiessmann is the founder of Winterkälte and of the label HANDS. 

He started to produce electronic music as early as the late 1980s. He founded the electronic label HANDS and also his first solo project ATRUM in 1990, before initiating WINTERKÄLTE in 1991, now legendary industrial pioneers of club music saturated with distortion and noise. 

With WINTERKÄLTE, Udo Wiessmann has performed on most essential industrial festivals in Europe like Maschinenfest, WGT, FORMS OF HANDS but also played many shows in Europe, North America and Asia.

His podcast for Knife and his DJ sets are a dance floor experience between techno, rhythmic noise and industrial music mashed up with industrial, EBM and assorted darkness.

Knife Podcast 093 | Udo Wiessmann

Berlin-based live duo and production unit, OPERANT, have progressively carved out their own space in the scene with boundary-defying electronic explorations, fuelled with tension and obscurity. A collaborative project between Instruments of Discipline founder, Luna Vassarotti and August Skipper, OPERANT have been serving a selective stream of output through the label with a focus on Techno, Noise and Experimental. Characterised by unrestrained experimentation, the project brutally morphs itself as it pleases, both in performance and in the studio.

OPERANT’s live shows are a collision between the body and machines, encompassing gestural noise, power tools, mic’d metal fragments, synths, drum machines and dual vocals distorted to the point of surreality. Since their inception OPERANT have been consistently touring, sharing stages across Europe, Asia, Australia and Russia with Ancient Methods, Unhuman, Blush_Response, Vatican Shadow, The Bug, Giant Swan, Schwefelgelb, An-i, Trepenaringsritualen, Kollaps & Brighter Death Now.

While 2018 saw the release of OPERANT’s 3rd EP, ‘Harnessed To Flesh’, a collection of remixes for Tomohiko Sagae, Verset Zero, 11xxx27 and compilation tracks for Instruments Of Discipline & Prague collective: Wrong; OPERANT are planning a full length release on Instruments Of Discipline, expected in the first quarter of 2019.
