In canon SPDT:TTFoT, this happens in the worst ending (geno). You meet the actively hiding away Sans in the True Lab, then he gets assaulted by some random amalgam and dies. In the final fight, all amalgams along with Sans fuse together (which is why Sans' face is in the thumbnail), and this stupid thing named Catastroy drains your DT and kills you in the end
